Pep Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City will expire in less than a year and pressure is mounting on him to tell the world what his future at the club holds especially now that he is about to kick-start the last season on his contract. He said he desires to remain as the manager of Manchester City but he has to deserve a contract extension.

The 49-year-old Spanish tactician has been with Manchester City since 2016 after he left German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich. Pep Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City will expire in June 2021. However, there have not been talks of extending the contract.

Since he has been at the Premier League club, Pep Guardiola has won all the domestic titles available in England including two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and three EFL Cup. Unfortunately for him, he has not been able to help the club to win their most desired title which is the UEFA Champions League. He has however come close three times but ended up at the quarter-final stage of the competition.

“I would love to stay longer here,” he said. “It is a place I love to be but I have to deserve it. This club achieved standards in the last decade but we have to maintain that.”

Manchester City will commence their 2020-2019 Premier League campaign on Monday, September 21 at 20:15. They will visit Wolves in what promises to be a very thrilling encounter. After that, City will commence their EFL campaign three days later.

Bale gives credit to Mourinho for his return to Tottenham

Meanwhile, the new signing of Tottenham Hotspur Gareth Bale said he decided to return to Tottenham Hotspur because of Jose Mourinho. The 31-year-old forward who left Tottenham for Real Madrid in 2013, decided to return to the club on a season-long loan.

He was totally in the dark at Real Madrid last season and needed a place that he can play active football rather than rust away on the bench. Where else would the Wales international rather go if not where he established himself as a world-class footballer.

“He’s spoken to me about a few positions that he would like me to play and obviously I’m happy with that,” Bale told BT Sport.

“He was a big reason for me coming back here, he’s a household name and a winner. He’s the perfect fit for Tottenham. We need to win trophies and he knows how to do that better than anyone.”

More so, Gareth Bale hailed Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son and said he was looking forward to working with them; adding that the season would be an interesting one for Tottenham if the whole stars work towards the same direction.

“Harry’s done incredibly well since he burst onto the scene and scored a lot of goals”, Bale noted. “To play with him and Son is an exciting prospect for all of us. If we’re all pushing in the same direction it could be a very exciting season.”
