Mason Greenwood may soon return to Manchester United as the club’s major sponsor, Adidas, have approved his return following talks with United officials.

The embattled Manchester United striker lost his place in the Red Devils’ squad in 2022 after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Harriet Robson.

Harriet Robson flooded social media with gruesome footage of her injuries from Mason Greenwood’s alleged assault. She later deleted the footage but UK authorities had already swung into action, arresting Greenwood for sexual assault and rape.

Following his arrest and prosecution by authorities, Mason Greenwood was suspended from Manchester United and have not played for the team for over seven months.

His Manchester United career declined drastically as he battled for his innocence on and off the court premises. Finally, there was light at the end of the tunnel as the Crown Prosecuting Service decided to drop all charges citing technical inconsistencies in the case due to the withdrawal of witnesses.

Mason Greenwood has returned to his relationship with Harriet Robson. They pair are now parents as they recently welcomed their first child together. They are also planning to get married soon.

As Manchester United prepare for the 2023/24 season, there were hopes Greenwood will return to the team after charges against him were dropped and the seeming normalcy that has returned in his relationship with Harriet Robson.

Despite the seeming return to normalcy after the dropped charges, Manchester United told Mason Greenwood to stay away from the club, insisting on conducting an internal investigation into the rape saga before integrating him back.

The 24-year-old was also spotted doing an individual training for the first time in several months. Greenwood was put through his paces and shooting skills by a private tutor in an £80-per-hour pitch.

United fans were optimistic of his imminent return after footages of the training session popped into the media.

However, his return was still a subject of speculation as Manchester United were yet to take a decision on their internal investigation which took center stage after charges against him were dropped.

Meanwhile, Greenwood was linked to various loan moves to Roma, Juventus, including Atalanta recently. However, Manchester United are not ready to sanction such moves.

Sources close to Old Trafford revealed Manchester United were ready to have Mason Greenwood back but had to take into consideration the concerns of their commercial partners.

Now, according to the Sun, Manchester United have been in secret talks with one of their main sponsor, Adidas, on Mason Greenwood’s return.

The report adds the sports brand, who have a £750million ten-year deal signed in 2015 with Manchester United, have been positive on Greenwood’s saga and have given the greenlight for the return of Mason Greenwood to the team.

According to reports, the brand does not consider Greenwood’s return an obstacle commercially.

It is now left for Manchester United to draft out their plan of integrating the youngster back into the team with other commercial partners set to be consulted as well.
