The manager of FC Barcelona, Ronald Koeman has noted that he is trying to enjoy the time he has left as the manager of the Spanish side.

Ronald Koeman has less than a season left on his current contract with FC Barcelona and it is not looking like the Dutch tactician would get a contract extension.

He joined the Spanish club on August 19, 2020, and was expected to give the club stability but he has been having a tough time doing that.

Koeman’s situation at FC Barcelona got worst when the then club’s talisman Lionel Messi had to leave the club for Paris Saint Germain last summer when the club could not extend his contract due to financial complications.

Ahead of the 2021-2022 season, it took Ronald Koeman weeks to be assured that he would continue to coach FC Barcelona because they struggled to make it into the top four in La Liga last season. They could not also make it beyond the round of 16 stage of the Champions League.

Reports in Spain claimed that the new president of the club, Joan Laporta, attempted to appoint a new football manager but they could not convince a high-profile coach fast enough before the 2021-2022 season commence.

Hence, Koeman continued with the club under intense pressure from the club’s supporters and some members of the club’s board.

Fortunately for the coach, FC Barcelona have been struggling at all front so far this season. They have recorded two defeats and three draws in 9 league games. These poor stats have forced Barcelona to the 9th spot on the league table.

Also, Barca have recorded two defeats in three UEFA Champions League games so far. They are currently sitting on the 3rd spot in Champions League Group E.

Based on these stats, the club’s supporters can not wait to see him exit the club on or before the end of this season. But the coach would not allow all the pressure to get to him as he is determined to enjoy the moment while it lasts.

“I’m a grown-up and I know how these things work,” Koeman said on Tuesday.

“I want to enjoy the time that I have left if it is eight years, six months, one year, or some weeks. I think it’s important that we win this game in Madrid, we cannot afford back-to-back losses.”

The manager of FC Barcelona, Ronald Koeman has described those who attacked him on Sunday, October 24, 2021, as “uneducated people”.

Recall that after the El Clasico match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid which Madrid won 2-1 at Nou Camp, Barca fans attacked coach Koeman’s car when he was trying to drive out of the stadium.

Ahead of the La Liga game against Rayo Vallecano which is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 later today, October 27, Koeman said his attack on him was a social problem.

He said: “It is a social problem. Uneducated people that don’t understand rules and values.

“Inside the stadium, the environment was completely different and that is what I keep in mind, that festive vibe, not with those kinds of people.”

On the match against Rayo, Koeman added: “They are a really tough team to beat and they are even better this season. We’ll have to be in our best shape to beat them in their home.”
