Three names make Man United shortlist to replace Erik ten Hag

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, United hierarchy have already begun discussing potential replacement options for Erik ten Hag internally.

Leading the list of names earmarked to take over from the EFL Cup winner is former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Roberto De Zerbi lost his job as Brighton manager a day before the end of the 2023/24 campaign following irreconcilable differences with the club’s chairman Tony Bloom.

He is said to be a top priority to replace ten Hag following his standout campaign with Brighton after taking over the club midway through the 2022/23 season.

Recently-sacked Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is also said to be a top choice for Man United. Sources close to United reveal United’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe holds Mauricio Pochettino in high esteem despite his deadlock with the Chelsea hierarchy.

Chelsea parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino after the Argentine led the club to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League.

The last name on the list is Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna. McKenna is the hottest manager in the rumor mills after he led Ipswich to promotion to the English top-flight. He has worked as Man United U-18 coach, and assistant manager before his Ipswich spell. With his old affiliations to the Old Trafford outfit, United’s current leadership reportedly consider him a a good alternative and potential replacement for Erik ten Hag.

However, Futballnews learned Chelsea are also interested in a move for the 38-year-old and could end up in a tight race with United for his services.
