Merseyside outfit Liverpool has emerged as favorites to win the 2024-25 Premier League title based on Opta predictions.

The race for the 2024-25 Premier League title seemed to be taking shape, with Liverpool on top of the race.

It is more of a surprise though, but it will be prudential to leave one’s options open at this time of the season. The Premier League hasn’t always beat the late drama.

2024-25 Premier League

Meanwhile, Liverpool is one of the best teams in the Premier League, but going this far in the 2024-25 Premier League title race with a manager on his debut season could not be fathomed.

The Reds’ new boss Arne Slot appears to be working wonders with the sea of starlets and experienced names his predecessor Jurgen Klopp left on his coffers.

In the final matchday before the November international break, almost all the big teams dropped points, but Liverpool defied the odds and edged out Aston Villa to boost their Premier League title chances.

The win saw the team go five-point clear on top of the table, thanks to Brighton’s shock comeback victory over defending champions Manchester City at the Falmer Stadium.

Arsenal, who have finished as runners-up in the past two seasons and were tipped to challenge for the title again, surrendered a one-goal lead at Stamford Bridge to settle for a 1-1 draw and share spoils.

Meanwhile, City’s defeat at the Falmer Stadium saw the team record their fourth consecutive loss for the first time since 2006.

City boss Pep Guardiola admitted the Premier League title race may literally be over following the loss to the Fabian Hurzeler-led side.

But is the Premier League title race actually over, and how are the three top contenders—Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool—faring in the race?

Opta predictions on 2024-25 Premier League potential winner

Opta’s latest predictions on the potential winner of the 2024-25 Premier League title have seen Liverpool deck Manchester City and Arsenal.

Liverpool are given a sky-high 60.32% chance of winning the title. This means the Arne Slot-led side is just a few points away from beating the probability and emerging as a substantive winner with no objection.

Manchester City, who are looking for their eighth title and fifth in a row, are given 34.29% points to win. This is almost half of Liverpool’s points, implying City are unlikely to pip Liverpool to the title race.

The third force in the race, Arsenal, are given a paltry 4.98%. This means it will take the biggest upset and a magical turnaround for Arsenal to win the title.

In other words, it is now a near impossibility that the Gunners will win the Premier League this season.

Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal standings on the Premier League table

Liverpool are going into the November international break with a commanding five-point lead on top of the Premier League table. They have 28 points from 9 wins, one draw, and a loss.

Manchester City are second with 23 points from 7 wins, 2 draws, and 2 defeats.

Arsenal are 4th in the Premier League with 19 points from 5 wins, 4 draws, and 2 defeats. They are 4 points away from City and 9 from table-toppers Liverpool.

Is the 2024-25 Premier League title race over?

While analysts have given it away to Liverpool following their sensational start to the campaign, it is still too early to draw conclusions on each team’s chances.

Liverpool are actually favorites to clinch the title, but City still have a big chance of catching up and dragging the race.

A pile of injuries has depleted Pep Guardiola’s options, further twisting the fortunes of the club. With some of City’s top options, like De Bruyne and John Stones, set to return after the international break, Liverpool is expected to face a stiff challenge from the Manchester-based outfit.

Arsenal can also spring up surprises and relaunch themselves into the race with a lot of games left before the end of the season.
