Liverpool Return To Winning Ways With Confident Win Over Fulham

Liverpool recorded a comfortable victory over Fulham, as goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Grabenberch, and Diogo Jota saw them secure all 3 points at Craven Cottage.

Both teams had several chances to score in the opening half and they ultimately got two goals in the first period.

Trent Alexander-Arnold poked Liverpool ahead in the 32nd minute, with a sublime free-kick that beat Bernd Lemon in goal for Fulham and into the top corner.

Two minutes into added time in the first 45, Timothy Castagne equalized for the Cottagers, after a cross from Robinson is met by Alex Iwobi.

Iwobi lifts the ball back into the center, with Rodrigo Muniz directed a header at goal which was blocked by Jarell Quansah.

However, the ball bounced into the Castagne, who hit the ball one-time into the bottom-left corner.

The two clubs went into the interval level, with plenty to do in the second duration of what has been a competitive affair.

Jurgen Klopp’s side began the second half all fiery, with Ryan Grabenberch scoring for the Reds in the 53rd minute.

Harvey Elliott intercepted a poor pass from Alex Iwobi outside the area of Fulham. Elliot quickly sort for Grabenberch on the edge of the box, with the Dutchman getting ownership of the ball and whipping a right-footed attempt into the right corner.

Diogo Jota sealed the victory for Liverpool over Fulham

Eighteen minutes before the culmination of normal time, Diogo Jota sealed the win for Liverpool, as he drove into the box after receiving a pass from Cody Gakpo, before burying the ball into the bottom-left corner and beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.

Three Fulham players got their names into the referee’s book, with two, namely; Joao Palhinha and Tosin Adarabioyo being yellow carded in the first 45.

In the second half, only Timothy Castagne was brandished a yellow for dissent 11 minutes before the end of normal time.

One minute before the expiration of regular time, Fulham had an opportunity to reduce the deficit, with Rodrigo Muniz sending the ball to substitute Harry Wilson on the edge of the 18.

Wilson subsequently smashed a low effort towards the bottom-left corner, but Liverpool goalie Alisson Becker was on hand to parry the ball away before Muniz struck the ball wide from a choked angle.

Liverpool return to winning ways at Craven Cottage

The win at Craven Cottage saw the Red Devils return to winning ways in the Premier League, after drawing and losing their last 2 games to Manchester United (2-2) and Crystal Palace (0-1) respectively.

Liverpool move up to 2nd on the table, level on point with league-leaders Arsenal, with both teams amassing 74 points so far this season.

The Gunners sit at the summit of the log due to a better goal difference of +51, compared to the Reds +43.

Both teams are in a higher positions, having played more games than Manchester City, who didn’t play this weekend, as they were engaged in semi-final FA Cup action.

If the Cityzens win their game in-hand, they will return to the top of the table, and could likely end the season as champions.

Anyway, Liverpool will continue pressing on till the end of the season, hoping to secure valuable points worthy enough to hand them the title, as they hope that Manchester City and Arsenal does falter.
