In what was an emotional afternoon in North London, Arsenal fans paid their tribute with a rousing applause witnessed around the Emirates Stadium in the 14th minute.

Supporters of the North London club were also seen holding a banner with the words “RIP Daniel” written on it.

Based on reports from the BBC, Arsenal was permitted by Daniel’s family to pay tribute to him during the encounter against the Cherries.

The Gunners came out victorious on the day 3-0, courtesy of goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice.

That win, which was their 26 victory of the campaign, pushed Mikel Arteta’s side closer to the Premier League title, although they will be hoping for Manchester City to slip up when they play against Wolverhampton Wanderers later on Saturday by 05:30 PM.

Arsenal return to action facing Manchester United at Old Trafford, in a Matchday 37 Premier League affair.

That fixture could be a game that could tell if Arsenal will be in the running for the league crown on the final day of the season.

    More on Daniel Anjorin

Daniel Anjorin was a pupil at Bancroft’s School, and the late teenager was described as a sound student, who had a “positive nature and gentle character”.

As earlier indicated, Daniel was a boyhood supporter of Arsenal.

Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man, whose name is Marcus Arduini Monzo, was present at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 2, 2024, as he has been accused of Daniel’s murder.

Additionally, he has also been charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article.

Four others were injured during the 22-minute rampage on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, including a heroic female police officer who almost lost a hand.

Moreover, the Nigerian government has also sent out their commiserations with the family of Daniel Anjorin through the chairperson of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Dabiri-Erewa, in a statement put out by her media aide, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, and posted on the commission’s official account on X (formerly known as Twitter) described the cruel incident as unfortunate, gruesome, and sad.

An excerpt from a lengthy statement shared on the commission’s X reads: “She (Abike Dabiri-Erewa) condoled with the family of the deceased and the Nigerian communities in the UK, praying unto God to rest the soul of young Daniel whose life was cut short on Tuesday.”

“She is optimistic that drastic measures will be used to make sure that the culprit who is already in Police custody will be punished accordingly.”

We at futballnews are also sending our condolences to the family of the late teenager, praying that God grants the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
