Lazio, the rival of Juventus in this season’s Italian Serie A has handed over the driver’s seat fully to their rival as their fight wasn’t enough to earn them a point on Wednesday night.

Lazio faced Atalanta in the must-win match but failed to ensure that they maintain the one-point gap between them and the table-leaders, Juventus. They ended the thrilling encounter 3-2 in favour of Atalanta.

The host gave the visitors the game by scoring an own-goal in the 5th minute through the boots of Atalanta‘s Marten De Roon. The match was beginning to look like what would end in a whitewash when Lazio slot in the second goal in the 11th minute through the boots of Milinkovic-Savic.

From that point, the host started firing back and dragged the 0-2 scoreline until the 38th minute when they pull one back to make it 1-2 through the boots of Meijers. The first half ended with that scoreline, keeping the game wide open.

The second half resumed and Atalanta started it like how Lazio started the first half. From the blast of the whistle, they showed more commitment to the game and their commitment paid off in the 66th minute when Ruslan Malinovsky scored the equaliser.

At this point, Lazio tactics changed and they began to look like a team that didn’t come to win but to run away with a point at most. They succeeded in doing that until the 80th minute when Jose Luis Palomino headed in the winning goal.

Lazio lost has increased the point difference between them and Juventus to 4 points with 11 games left for both sides to show who want the trophy the most. Juventus will welcome Lecce on Friday and a win in that match will push Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates closer to the title.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Juventus have contacted Arsenal football club for the signature of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Reports are saying that Juventus are dreaming of Cristiano Ronaldo and Aubameyang frontline at the club.

The Gabonese international has been involved in a series of transfer speculations since the world got to know that Arsenal was yet to offer the 30-year-old striker a new contract. He has been linked with a move to almost all the big clubs in Europe including Real Madrid. His current contract with the Premier League club will expire in June 2021.

Since Aubameyang joined the London club in 2018 from Borussia Dortmund, he has remained the most consistent player at the club and arguably the best player the club currently has. So far this season, the Arsenal captain has scored 20 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions.
