Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has sent a message to Man United hierarchy after a dreaded capitulation of the Red Devils at Selhurst Park by Crystal Palace.
The Eagles roasted United in a shock Premier League victory to pile up pressure on Erik ten Hag. Chelsea and Man United target Michael Olise scored a brace with Mitchel and Mateta also registering their names on the score sheet to secure a 4-0 victory for the Oliver Glasner-led side.
The defeat has left United’s hopes of playing in Europe next season on the brink of collapse. They now sit 8th on the Premier League table with 54 points, the same point as Chelsea in 7th, who boast a superior goal difference.
Reacting to the loss, Erik ten Hag insisted he is the right man for the Manchester United job in an apparent hint to the club’s hierarchy.
In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, ten Hag said;
“Absolutely, I am the right manager to turn things around”.
“If the right players are available then we have a good squad. But when we miss almost our entire backline then we have problems”.
Futballnews understands Erik ten Hag has been under pressure since United’s stuttering start to the campaign showed no sign of abating.
There have been reports he could be sacked at the end of the season. His future has yet to be determined with one year left on his contract.
A recent report by the Mirror claims Manchester United new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to continue with Erik ten Hag next season but the English billionaire investor could be forced to change his mind if United end the season without silverware and also fail to qualify for Europe next season.
With three games left to wrap up the season, Erik ten Hag still has a chance to qualify United for Europe and also win a trophy as they are in the FA Cup final where they will clash with cross-city rivals Manchester City.
