Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has sent a message to Sir Jim Ratcliffe amidst his uncertain future at the club.

Speaking ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League cracker with Chelsea, Ten Hag dropped a teaser as speculations over his future at Old Trafford mount.

Manchester United have fallen below expectations this term. A series of inconsistent domestic run has seen the team slip off the top-four race in the Premier League. A poor European campaign also saw the team finish bottom of their Champions League group, crashing out of the competition.

United’s only hope of silverware this season lies in the FA Cup where they have booked a ticket to the last four following an impressive and unlikely victory over Liverpool.

Overall, Erik ten Hag has been found wanting this term with reports he could be sacked at the end of the season if United fail to qualify for Champions League.

Meanwhile, United’s dwindling fortunes has forced analysts to draw a possible parallel between what is happening at Chelsea and what may happen at the club.

Erik ten Hag was asked whether Manchester United could continue falling off the pecking order as Chelsea due to frequent change of hands in the dugout, and he seemed to reply in the affirmative while sending a message to the club’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The Dutch said United is in the right direction with the crop of youngsters in the team and a change of manager could disrupt the process.

“I think you need to follow the process. We have good young players coming through. They are developing very well in their progress.

‘’We are in a good way, a good direction and we need to make the next steps. Don’t interrupt this process,” Ten Hag said.

Ten Hag’s reply could be seen as a precursory note to Sir Jim Ratcliffe amidst reports he could be relieved of his role at the end of the season.

Ten Hag signed a three-year contract with the club and will enter the last lap of his contract with the club next season. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is head-on with his restructuring plan at United, could end his collaboration with the former Ajax boss if United end the season without qualifying for the Champions League.
