Liverpool suffered a big blow to their Premier League title hopes on the Premier League matchday 32 clash.

The Reds missed a chance to go top of the table as they stumbled to a shock home defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield.

A brilliant build-up play and great combination by Olise, Michelle, and Eze opened up the Reds’ shaky defence, allowing Eze to get the better of Allison Becker to score in the 16th minute.

With over 74 minutes left to play, Liverpool failed to stage a comeback and ended up with a narrow 1-0 loss.

The defeat has seen the Merseyside outfit drop to third on the Premier League table with 71 points – two points away from Manchester City at the top and the same point as Arsenal, who is second on the table with a superior goal difference.

Jurgen Klopp was overly disappointed with the result just like the thousands of Reds’ fans who trooped into Anfield to watch the game.

Speaking in post-match press conference, the German tactician described the game as ‘horrible’ and ‘rubbish.’

“That was horrible to watch, to be honest. We had the possession and the chances to kill the game but floundered. It was terrible,” he said.

Klopp also went on to blame the players for not doing enough while picking on only one player who gave his all for the game.

“Curtis [Jones] was the only one really chasing, really getting out, and from time to time broke their rhythm,” he added.

Liverpool are now winless in their last three matches in all competitions. They settled for a 2-2 draw against Manchester United, collapsed to a shocking 3-0 defeat against Atalanta in the Europa League quarterfinal first leg, and have now stumbled against Crystal Palace.

It is a difficult phase in Jurgen Klopp’s treble hopes this season. The Champions League winner, who is set to leave at the end of the season, may end up bidding farewell to the Reds with just the EFL Cup trophy to show for it in his last season.

He will hope to return to gears by staging what could be an incredible comeback against Atalanta in Bergamo, Italy on Thursday, April 18 before returning to league action against Fulham on Sunday, April 21.
