Cristiano Ronaldo is not known to be a person who easily reacts to issues in the media but this time around, he was forced to react to the incessant speculations concerning his future.

Over the past one week, the 36-year-old Portuguese forward has been linked with a move to a couple of clubs across Europe including Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.

It got to a point where it was being speculated that Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes have offered him to Manchester City for as low as £25 million.

At the same time, it is being speculated that the president of Paris Saint Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi is planning on bringing Ronaldo to PSG to play alongside Lionel Messi that joined the French club this summer.

As if that was not enough, his former teammate at Real Madrid, who now plays for PSG, Angel di Maria said he was happy that PSG signed Messi instead of Ronaldo. The Argentine attacking midfielder claimed that Ronaldo wishes he could play at PSG.

In the same vein, the Spanish TV show El Chiringuito claimed that Real Madrid are trying all their possible best to return Cristiano Ronaldo to the Spanish club.

Recall that Ronaldo spent 9 years at Real Madrid before he left the Spanish club for Juventus for a transfer fee worth £99.2 million.

When the news that Real Madrid were interested in bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club went viral, the coach of the side, Carlo Ancelotti took to Twitter to debunk the speculation.

“Cristiano is a Real Madrid legend and he has all my love and respect. I have never considered signing him. We look forward. #HalaMadrid,” the Italian coach wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

Later that same day, Cristiano Ronaldo who scored a Real Madrid’s record 450 goals in 438 games and helped the club to win four UEFA Champions League and two La Liga titles, took to Instagram to stress that all that has been said about him in the transfer market were just talk.

Though he didn’t deny that he was linked with a move out of Juventus and didn’t commit his future to his current club via his statement, Ronaldo insisted that he is focused on his career.

The contract between Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus will expire on June 30, 2022. At the time of publishing this report, talks for a contract extension have not started.

Ronaldo wrote: “Anyone who knows me is aware of how focused I am on my work. Less talk and more action, this has been my guiding motto since the start of my career. However, given everything that’s been said and written recently, I have to set out my position.

“More than the disrespect for me as a man and as a player, the frivolous way that my future is covered in the media is disrespectful to all the clubs involved in these rumors, as well as to their players and staff.

“My story at Real Madrid has been written. It’s been recorded. In words and numbers, in trophies and titles, in records and headlines. It’s in the Museum at the Bernabeu Stadium and it’s also in the minds of every fan of the club. And beyond what I achieved, I remember that in those nine years I had a relationship of deep affection and respect for “merengue afición”, affection and respect that I retain to this day, and that I will always cherish. I know that the true Real Madrid fans will continue to have me in their hearts, and I will have them in mine.

“As well as this most recent episode in Spain, there have been frequent news and stories associating me with several clubs in many different Leagues, with nobody ever being concerned about trying to find out the actual truth.

“I’m breaking my silence now to say that I can’t allow people to keep playing around with my name. I remain focused on my career and in my work, committed and prepared for all the challenges that I have to face. Everything else? Everything else is just talking.”
