Lionel Messi is not just a footballer whose influence ends within the football circle alone, his influence goes beyond the game to the extent of impacting the life of NBA legend, Michael Jordan.

Michael Jordan is a former American basketball star that played the game of basketball between 1984 and 2003 and still waxing strong in the business end of the game. He is regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time.

He was not only good on the basketball court, but he also had the best brand in the game which is still fetching him good money to date.

For instance, before he retired from the game, he signed a lifetime deal with Nike, an American sportswear manufacturing company. Part of the deal offers him a percentage from the sales of any of the company’s brands that have his trademark on it.

The aspect of the sportswear manufacturing company known as Nike’s Jordan brand is the type of kit which Paris Saint Germain are using since the 2019-2020 season.

Nike and Michael Jordan had a deal that he would get 5 percent from the sale of any of the kits long before PSG signed Lionel Messi.

When Messi joined PSG from FC Barcelona, due to how big the brand of the 34-year-old Argentine football star is, PSG have reportedly made a record 120 million euros within a week from the sales of Lionel Messi’s PSG’s kits.

Based on the 5 percent deal Micheal Jordan has with Nike, the 58-year-old retired American basketball star has made six million euros already from the sales of Messi’s kits.

This is believed to be just the beginning of the fortune Micheal Jordan could make from Messi’s move to PSG. It is reported that PSG are expected to sell 2.5 million shirts featuring Lionel Messi’s name before the end of the 2021-2022 season which means that Jordan is expecting more millions from Nike.

This is seen as a good period in the life of Micheal Jordan who reportedly lost 24 percent of his fortune during the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to Forbes, Micheal Jordan’s net worth dropped from 2.1 billion dollars to 1.6 billion dollars within the covid-19 period. Hence, Lionel Messi’s move to PSG is a big blessing to the basketball legend.

Meanwhile, PSG unveiled Lionel Messi to thousands of their supporters on Saturday alongside their other new signings Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi, and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The unveiling took place at Parc des Princes shortly before PSG played their first home game against Strasbourg which ended 4-2 in favor of PSG.

During the unveiling, Messi addressed the spectators at the stadium saying: “It has been a very special week, I want to thank everybody for their welcome.

“It was incredible, I feel so happy, hopeful, and delighted to be experiencing this new stage. I hope we can enjoy this year.”
