As usual, the greatest football players from the African continent were in attendance at the prestigious CAF Awards 2022 in the Moroccan city of Rabat.

During the event, Tiwa Savage, a multi-award-winning Nigerian artist, made sure there was magic in the air as she delivered a brilliant musical performance to spice up the event.

Asmaa Lamnawar from Morocco and Magic System from Cote d’Ivoire were two additional musical performers that also added color to the occasion.

The highly anticipated red carpet event brought together all the nominees for the 13 various categories, football royalties, including football’s leadership and CAF luminaries, as well as figures from all over the African continent. It was held at the magnificent Mohammed VI Technical Centre.

Africa’s football elites were treated to a magnificent spectacle in the North African country that was carried live around the globe on top international cable networks like Canal+, StarTimes, beIN Sport, and SuperSport.

Mane Clinches CAF Awards 2022

At the CAF Awards 2022, Sadio Mane was the main draw after defeating Edouard Mendy and Mohamed Salah to win the African Footballer of the Year accolade.

For his remarkable efforts for Liverpool, which won two domestic cups, challenged Manchester City in the Premier League, and advanced to the Champions League final, the Senegalese won a slew of individual domestic trophies.

Mane’s major rival, Salah was named the PWA Players’ Player of the Year, PFA Fans’ Player of the Year, and FWA Footballer of the Year this year. Salah’s form from late August to late December, when he contributed to 28 goals across all competitions, was one of the best seen by an African player.

Salah outperformed Mane in the Premier League, yet despite Liverpool’s narrow loss, the Senegalese player still won Player of the Year.

In contrast to his former teammate, Mane shone in both the World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations, scoring the game-winning penalty as Senegal won their first-ever championship. In both contests, the Teranga Lions defeated Egypt.

The Bayern Munich new signing was in an excellent position to win the award given Mane’s international dominance in the dual and the historical tradition for these honors to frequently be focused on a player’s performances in international tournaments.

Oshoala wins fifth African Women’s Player of the Year award

Asisat Oshoala, the captain of Nigeria and Barcelona, has been selected the African Women’s Player of the Year for 2022.

The 27-year-old won the prize on Thursday night, beating Grace Chanda of Zambia and Ajara Nchout Njoya of Cameroon, and Inter Milan (Zambia and BIIK Kazygurt).
