Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea are leading the lists of the most successful football clubs in England.
1.Liverpool
Despite their recent struggles in the Premier League, Liverpool are still top of the list of the most successful clubs in England.
The Reds have raked in a record 68 trophies into the club’s trophy haul, with the 1970s and 1980s being the greenest years in the club’s history. They dominated English football, including European club competitions in those years.
They, however, had to wait for over three decades for their Champions League and Premier League trophy after the arrival of Jurgen Klopp.
- Manchester United
The Red Devils have 66 trophies in their trophy kits and had recorded immense success under the era of Sir Alex Ferguson – their longest-serving manager.
The former Manchester United manager won a record 13 trophies before exiting the reins at Old Trafford in 2013.
The Red Devils will be looking for their first trophy after six years as they tackle Newcastle United at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.
- Arsenal
Arsenal are third on the list of the most successful clubs in England with 48 trophies.
Under the savant hands of Arsene Wenger, the Gunners won more FA cups than other English clubs, including the Premier League title.
Arsene Wenger won 7 FA Cups, 7 Community Shields, and 3 Premier League titles during his 22 years reign at the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta is currently doing a great job at the Emirates, leading the race to win the club’s first Premier League title since 2004/05 season.
- Chelsea
Chelsea are fourth on the list with 34 trophies. During the reign of Roman Abramovich, Chelsea rocked golden era in the club’s history, winning several trophies.
The Blues won a total of 20 trophies during the reign of Roman Abramovich. The Blues won the Premier League, EFL Cup, FA Cup, Europa League, and UEFA Super Cup, including the Champions League.
Currently, the club is struggling in the Premier League with no trophy in sight under the new manager Graham Potter.
- Manchester City
Fifth on the list of the most successful English clubs is Manchester City with 29 trophies.
Manchester City emerged into the scene following the Abu Dhabi takeover that saw heavy investments sunk into the club.
The arrival of Pep Guardiola boosted the club’s rating with the former Barcelona manager winning two Community Shields, one FA Cup, 4 Carabao Cup, and 4 Premier League titles since his arrival in 2016.
However, they are yet to win the Champions League but are chasing Arsenal at the Premier League top to defend the 2021/22 title.
- Tottenham
Despite over a decade of trophy drought, Tottenham are sixth on the list of the most successful clubs in England. They have 26 trophies in English football. The Lilywhites are struggling for a top-four finish this season.
- Aston Villa
Despite a crumbling history that has seen the club fell off the pecking order in English football, Aston Villa are one of the English cups who won the European Cup.
They have won a total of 25 trophies but their last domestic title win came in 1981, a year before they won their first European Cup.
- Everton
Everton, who are currently battling to survive relegation in the Premier are one of the most successful clubs in England with 24 trophies.
They have won various domestic trophies before their recent slump in the league.
9. Newcastle United
The Magpies are 9th on the list and are pushing for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season. They are also in the Carabao Cup finals and will hope to add to their trophy tally this season.
They have won 14 trophies and are recreating their glory days under Eddie Howe and heavy investments following a takeover by Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund in October 2021.
10. Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest are 10th on the list of the most successful clubs in England. They have won 13 trophies including several domestic trophies and the European Cup in its glory days.
