German Bundesliga is hitting up and the heat can not cool off anytime soon. Since the 2019-2020 season restarted in Germany a week ago, it has become apparent that the league title is between table-toppers Bayern Munich and second-placed Borussia Dortmund. In fact, it is gradually becoming the race of the fittest which only the fittest can win the Bundesliga title in weeks to come.
Match-Day two out of 9 resumed on Saturday, May 24, with Borussia Dortmund taking the centre stage.
Raphael Guerreiro opened the goals account for Dortmund in the 32 minutes, making it apparent that Berlin derby was for Dortmund. Though Wolfsburg survived the first half of the match conceding just a goal, the second half proved more difficult for the home team as they were reduced to 10 men.
Before the VAR review led to the exit of Felix Klaus because of his hard tackle on Manuel Akanji, Borussia Dortmund had already scored their second goal in the 78 minutes through the boot of Achraf Hakimi.
At the end of the match, Dortmund solidified their place behind Bayern Munich and wished the table-toppers would lose their game against Eintracht Frankfurt later that day so that it will be easier for them when they clash on Tuesday. Unfortunately for Dortmund, Bayern Munich won emphatically.
The Bayern Munich Vs Eintracht Frankfurt match started like it was going to be a pure whitewash of the visitors as Bayern started scoring very early in the first half of the match. Before the end of the first half, Frankfurt was already 3 goals down.
Goretzka opened Bayern goals account in the first 17 minutes, Muller doubled the led in the 41 minutes, while the club’s goal machine Lewandowski made it three in the 46 minutes.
Frankfurt’s Martin Hinteregger tried to spoil Bayern’s party in the second half as he opened the visitors’ goal account in the 52nd minutes. Three minutes later, he added another goal, making it 3:2. When the world was waiting for the big equalising goal, Bayern’s Davies made it 4:2 on the 61 minutes. Out of frustration, Hinteregger assisted Bayern to make it 5:2 by scoring an own-goal.
Now, all eyes of the followers of Bundesliga will be fixed on the title-deciding game between Bayern and Dortmund on Tuesday 26, 2020. If Bayern should win the match, they will be topping Dortmund with 7 points with 7 games left to play. And that means that the destiny of retaining the league title again is 100 per cent in their hands after the match on Tuesday.
