Canadian international player Alphonso Davies has penned a new contract with Bayern Munich to keep him in the club until 2025. The 19-year-old defender joined Bayern Munich from his boyhood club Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018 after the Germain club paid the sum of £10 million.
Since he joined the Germain team, Davies has become an integral part of the team helping them win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal in his first year in the club. Reasonably, he scored one goal and made about eight assists in the previous season.
Davies while speaking with the club’s website after he penned a new contract with the club, said: “I am very happy. “FC Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world, and for me, it’s a dream come true to play here. I felt happy from day one.
“I want to win as many titles as possible with this club. The mentality of always wanting to win everything is in FC Bayern’s DNA.”
Alphonso Davies’ impressive performances at Allianz earned him the praises of the Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, he said: “Alphonso has developed very well at FC Bayern and has earned this contract extension with his impressive performances.
“We are happy that he will remain with FC Bayern in the long term. He delights our fans not only with the way he plays, but also with the way he is off the pitch.”
The 19-year-old defender is so confident that Bayern Munich can win the Champions League when football reopens after the end of the coronavirus pandemic in Europe and the rest of the world.
Davies who could not hide his joy after he signed a new contract uploaded a picture of himself during the contract talks and signing on his Instagram handle. He shared a picture with the Bayern Munich jersey with the number 2025 splashed at the back of the outfit. The number 2025 written at the back of the jersey revealed the year his new contract will expire.
Alphonso Davies’ new weekly salary was not revealed, the star player likes to keep his finances private and he has requested that the deal be sealed from the public. However, he is expected to earn a bit over $100,000 weekly.
