Management of Arsenal Football Club says the club has been discussing with the players of the club for over 10 days in order to find a way the players can help the club during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Premier League, like every other major league across the world, have been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. Due to this, clubs across Europe have been trying to figure out a way the club can keep running despite generating little or no revenue.

Some clubs in the United Kingdom like Tottenham and Liverpool were even tempted to Furlong some of their non-playing staff in order to keep afloat. But critics made them reversed their decision to take advantage of the government’s scheme.

Meanwhile, the Premier League has urged players in the league to accept a 30% pay cut from their clubs in order to assist them during the coronavirus lockdown.

However, the Professional Football Association (PFA) in England has insisted that the players should not accept such a pay cut until the clubs explain their financial situation.

Still, some clubs have decided to continue talking with their players to see how the players can help the clubs.

Arsenal is one of the top-flight clubs in the Premier League which is engaging with its players steadily on this issue.

A statement issued by the London club on Wednesday said the executives of the club have agreed to waive more than a third” of their pay for the next 12 months in an effort to control costs.

The club reaffirmed that it is not planning to furlough any of its workers as the club is exploring other alternatives to keep running smoothly.

“We have made it clear to them that we are not considering redundancies, and we are fully focused on protecting their well-being, jobs and salaries,” the statement read.

“All our employees are receiving their full salaries and we plan to continue this. We are not currently intending to use the Government’s furlough scheme.

“We know that this crisis will pass, and normality will resume, but timeframes cannot be known with any certainty.

“The potential financial impact is significant so we must be responsible and act now to best protect Arsenal from what might happen in the months ahead.

“What is clear is that this is one of the most challenging periods in our nearly 134-year history.”
