Former Real Madrid player and coach, Zinedine Zidane took his wife, Véronique Zidane to Stade de France in Paris to watch the UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid on Saturday, May 28, 2022.
The 49-year-old French tactician, Zinedine Zidane wore a white sweater zipper hoodie and sat next to his wife Véronique in the VIP section of the stadium.
Before kick-off, the out-of-job French coach met with 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund and England’s midfielder, Jude Bellingham who was also at the Stade de France to watch the Champions League final.
He went along with his 16-year-old younger brother Jobe Bellingham who currently plays for EFL Championship club Birmingham City. They both posed for a snap with Zinedine Zidane.
The French legend and the English youngsters sat in the same VIPs section throughout the game and he must have shared one or two tips with the youngsters.
During the Champions League game, Zidane proved that though he is no longer working for Real Madrid, he is still a fan of the club. One of the instances in which he proved that was when the French tactician tried to look away while the VAR was checking to see if Karim Benzema’s disallowed goal in the first half should stand.
Reports claimed that just like many Real Madrid fans who were not pleased with the controversial decision, Zidane was not also happy with the decision.
Fortunately for the French coach and other Real Madrid fans at the stadium, Vinicius Junior scored in the 59th minute to hand Madrid the Champions League title.
Zinedine Zidane who won the Champions League title three consecutive times for Real Madrid as a manager – 2016, 2017, and 2018, waited with his wife until Real Madrid lifted the 2022 UEFA Champions League trophy before he left with his family.
Note that Zidane who played as a midfielder at Real Madrid between 2001 and 2006, served as the club’s coach from 2016 to 2018 in his first spell, and from 2019 to 2021 in his second spell before he was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.
The 49-year-old French football legend who has remained without a job since 2021, has been married to Véronique Zidane since 1994. The marriage is blessed with four children – Enzo Fernández, Luca Zidane, Theo Zidane, and Elyaz Zidane Fernández.
It might interest you to note that reports are claiming that Paris Saint Germain wish to make Zinedine Zidane their next football manager but the Frenchman is reportedly not interested because he does agree with the club’s “football plans”.
