Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has signed a new contract extension with the club to extend his stay with the club to five years.

The veteran European football manager joined Aston Villa in November 2022 as manager and has overseen an incredible transformation of the Tyne-based outfit to a Premier League giant.

The former Arsenal, Villarreal, and PSG manager got off the mark when he arrived at Villa Park. He met the team on the lower rungs of the Premier League table gradually drifting into the relegation battle.

Emery settled immediately at Villa Park and unleash his signature tactical acumen and technical finesse by taking Villa from 16th on the Premier League table to 7th on his debut campaign last season.

He returned the team to European club competitions for the first time in a decade.

This season, the Spaniard has continued from where he stopped, leading Aston Villa to challenge for a top-four finish, and also maintaining a stellar campaign in UEFA Europa Conference League.

Aston Villa are seated comfortably in 4th position in the Premier League but have played two games more than Tottenham Hotspur, who are trailing with six points.

They are also in the last four of the UEFA Europa Conference, and are strong contention for the first European crown in decades.

From the foregoing, it was pretty evident Aston Villa would do everything possible to keep the Spaniard at the club.

Meanwhile, Europe’s top clubs were milling around the 52-year-old following his impressive campaign with the Villains.

Bayern Munich led the list of clubs who were reportedly interested in a move for the former PSG boss but were set to face an uphill task poaching the veteran manager with Aston Villa keen on renewing his terms with the club.

Originally, Emery signed a three-and-a-year contract with Aston Villa which was set to expire in 2026.

Now, according to BBC, he has signed a new contract extension to stay with the Villains till 2027.

The new contract is a big boost to Aston Villa, who are hoping to continue leveraging the expertise of the Spaniard to secure a Champions League spot and possibly bring home the Europa Conference League trophy.
