    The UEFA Euro 2024 draw will be held in Germany on December 2nd, 2023 in Hamburg and 10 cities will host the tournament.

    The competition will kick start on 14th June, 2024 in Munich and the final will also take place in Berlin on 14th July of the same year.

    However, before we delve into knowing all about the tournament, we need to understand what it is all about and which teams are playing.

    The UEFA Euro 2024

    The 2024 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro 2024 will be the 17th edition of the UEFA European Competition.

    And it will be the quadrennial international football championship organized by UEFA for the men’s national teams of its member associations.

    As we mentioned, Germany will host the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from 14 June to 14 July 2024.

    The UEFA Euro 2024 will be the third time that European Championship matches are played on German territory.

    This will be the first time the competition is held in what was formerly East Germany with Leipzig as a host city, as well as the first time that a reunified Germany served as a solo host nation.

    The Tournament will return to its usual four-year cycle, after Euro 2020 was delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Italy are the defending champions of the UEFA Euro trophy after the 2020 tournament after beating England on penalties in the final.

    Where Will The Tournament Be Held?

    Germany will host the 2024 tournament next summer after they made their intention known since May 2012.

    On 8 March 2017, UEFA announced that only two countries, Germany and Turkey, had announced their intentions to host the tournament before the deadline of 3 March 2017.

    The UEFA Executive Committee voted for the host in a secret ballot, with only a majority required to determine who will host the tournament.

    What Country Have Qualified For The UEFA Euro 2024?

    Germany are qualified automatically as they will be hosting next summer’s tournament.

    However, there are 23 other teams remaining and their being in the competition will be determined by the qualifying tournament.

    The 20 spots will be decided by the direct qualification of the winners and runners-up of the 10 qualifying groups, with the remaining three spots decided by play-offs.

    Places in the play-offs will be given to the teams that perform the best in the 2022–23 UEFA Nations League who have not already qualified via the main qualifying tournament.

    When Will The Tournament Be Played?

    UEFA Euro 2024 is scheduled to take place from June 14 to July 14, 2024, and as we mentioned earlier, the draw will happen on Saturday, December 2, 2023 in Hamburg.

    Germany are already seeded in Group A as the host nation, which means that they will play in the opening match in Munich, at the Munich Football Arena (Allianz Arena) on Friday, June 14.

    While the final of the tournament will be played at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

    Germany have made 10 cities available to host the tournament come next summer and the venues as as follows:

    What Country Have Qualified For The UEFA Euro 2024?

    As we mentioned earlier, Germany are already qualified as the host nation and there will be 23 more teams to participate in the competition.

    These 23 teams’ presence in next summer’s tournament will be decided via Qualifiers which will run until November 2023, and through play-offs scheduled for March 2024.

    Tournament Format

    Just like that of the 2020 edition, UEFA Euro 2024 will assume the same format of the previous tournament.

    Two top teams from each of the six final groups will proceed to the round of 16 along with any team that finishes as best third-place.

    The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be the next stage of the tournament before the winner of the tournament will be crowned in Berlin on 14th July, 2024.
