The United States national team World Cup-winning star Alex Morgan has become a mother for the first time in 30 years. She took to Instagram to announce that she has given birth to her first child. She made the announcement on Saturday, May 9, 2020.

The American soccer star has named her newborn baby girl Charlie Elena Carrasco who she said was born at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2020, weighing 8 pounds, 5 ounces.

While making the announcement to her over 9 million Instagram followers, the 30-year-old soccer star described the baby as her “super moon baby” who made her and her husband, Servando Carrasco, “wait longer than expected”. “I should have known she would do it her way and her way only,” Morgan wrote on the caption of the baby’s picture she shared on Instagram on Saturday.

In the picture, baby Charlie was gorgeously wrapped in a piece of cloth. A tiny piece of the cloth was used as a headscarf around her head. She was laid in a bed with her name embossed on a circular-shaped wood placed on the bed.

Few weeks before giving birth to the baby girl, Morgan took to Instagram and shared a semi-nude picture of herself heavily pregnant with Charlie. In the caption, she wrote that she has always wanted to be pregnant.

She admitted that though it was her dream to have a life in her who would depend on her for life, yet, the dream came with the fear of not having a healthy pregnancy or not being able to get her “body back”.

“I think these fears inside of me ignited my passion of pregnancy even more”, the soccer star wrote. “The last nine months have exceeded all hopes and expectations I had and then some. For all the pregnant(and post-partum) mommas, you are so beautiful. Each body, story, and journey is different and just as beautiful.”

Alex Morgan was an important member of the U.S. female national team that won the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. He didn’t only get the medal as a world cup winner, he returned to the U.S. with the Silver Boot of the tournament.

She is married to 31-year-old MLS star Carrasco. They got married in 2014 and probably decided to keep childbearing out of the marriage until in October 2019 when the couple announced that Morgan was pregnant.
