Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis is calling on UEFA to postpone the national games scheduled for November. The move call is reportedly backed by other Serie A Presidents.

According to Il Mattino, the Partenopei patron expressed concern about the next international break as borders are closing due to coronavirus.

Napoli are without Eljif Elmas and Piotr Zielinski since the last international break. The duo tested positive of the dreaded virus. De Laurentiis is prepared to ask UEFA to push the national games in November to avoid further setbacks.

Elmas, a North Macedonian international was part of the four cases the club had, which made them not to be able to travel for the Juventus clash in Turin.

The newspaper revealed that Laurentiis, who also recently recovered from the dreaded virus has the support of other Presidents in Serie A.

Australia recently canceled all their international engagement due to the rising case of the dreaded virus in Europe. Other countries could follow suit in reducing the spread of the virus.

Why Laurentiis wants international break cancelled

The club patron obviously know what the virus can do to decimate a team still has a court case in his hands.

The club had appealed a judgment that awarded a 3-0 win to Juve after the Pertonopei failed to show up in Turin for their Serie A clash before the international break.

Since their excuse was the two positive cases reportedly recorded at their camp, Laurentiis won’t want a repeat of such a situation where a player would come back into the team carrying the virus.

An instance is Matteo Guendouzi, who is on loan at Hertha Berlin from Arsenal. The French midfielder is believed to have contracted the virus while on an intentional break with France under 21.

With Eljif Elmas and Piotr Zielinski still out of action, Laurentiis was trying to avoid a situation where a player would be stranded in the border of his country whenever he goes to represent his country.

It remains unknown if other managers across the top European leagues at least will join forces to urge the organizing body to end it.
