Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane has agreed on personal terms with German Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich. He is expected to sign a three-year deal with the German side in the coming days.

Earlier, Liverpool rejected two proposals from Bayern Munich for the services of the Senegalese forward.

However, sports journalist Fabrizio Romano said on Twitter that Liverpool are aware of his wish to join Bayern Munich and that the trade has reached the ‘final stages’ and is now ‘really close.’

Sadio Mane, like fellow Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah, has a year left on his contract, putting pressure on the Reds to trade him this summer to prevent losing him for nothing next year.

Bayern Munich are hoping to sign the Senegalese captain for a bargain price, but Jurgen Klopp’s side are adamant that he will not be sold for less than his true worth and have set a £42 million price tag on him.

Bayern Munich are reportedly hoping that Liverpool would accept their third bid worth £34.6 million, according to German magazine Bild. Bayern hope that their current offer, despite coming £7.4 million shy of Liverpool’s valuation, would persuade the Reds to sell Mane.

The arrangement calls for the Bavarian company to pay £30.3 million up front, with a further £4.3 million in add-ons.

If both clubs agree on a price, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will not stand in the way of Mane’s transfer.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has focused his efforts on luring Mane to the Allianz Arena after signing midfielder Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax on Monday.

He hopes to complete a deal with Liverpool soon after receiving authorization from Bayern’s board to make another approach for Mane.

Bjorn Bezemer, Mane’s agent, met with Salihamidzic in early May to negotiate a move, according to Bild.

Liverpool and Bayern enjoy an excellent relationship, which was bolstered in September 2020 when the former acquired Thiago Alcantara for £25 million from the latter.

The football career of Sadio Mane at Liverpool

Liverpool had struggled to score the quantity of goals expected of them since the departure of Luis Suarez and the injury to Daniel Sturridge, with their leading scorer in each of those seasons having only thirteen goals.

In the summer of 2016, Jurgen Klopp began looking for more attacking options. Mario Götze was expected to be the club’s key attacking addition for the summer, but when a deal appeared to be on the cards, the German footballer made it obvious that he preferred to stay at Bayern Munich.

Then, rumors began to circulate linking Southampton’s Sadio Mané to the club, with reports claiming that a £30 million approach had been made for the Senegalese forward. Mané was photographed leaving a Liverpool hospital on June 27, 2016, after getting his medical.

On June 28, 2016, it was announced that Mané had joined the club for a reported cost of £34,000,000, with the possibility of an increase to £36,000,000, however, Merseyside correspondents put the figure at £30,000,000. As a result, Mané became one of the club’s three most costly signings.

Sadio Mane joined Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, and Nathaniel Clyne as the fifth player from Southampton to join Liverpool in only two years. Mané was confirmed to wear the number 19 shirt for the 2016-17 season on the same day.
