Spanish and European champions Real Madrid are in talks with German giants Borussia Dortmund to sign their midfielder Jude Bellingham in 2023.

The deal is expected to cost up to €90 million but Jude Bellingham is not expected to join Real Madrid untill after the 2022-2023 season even if the deal is completed this summer.

The 18-year-old England footballer still has a contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2025 but will be set to leave if a reasonable offer is accepted. Jude Bellingham has been amazing for Dortmund so far. His form has attracted clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid to bid for him.

However, Liverpool are the only club to have submitted a formal offer. But the new move by Real Madrid means he would reject other offers and head to Spain in the summer of 2023.

Bellingham has to stay back at Dortmund for a season even if his transfer to Real Madrid is completed because the Spanish giants have exhausted their non-EU place in the squad.

The Spanish champions believe that Vinicius Jr’s passport will be ready by next season which will give room for another non-EU player to join the club in 2023.

As noted earlier, the team under Carlo Ancelotti currently has a full quota of non-EU players. However, they are still interested in Bellingham and are aiming to lure him away from the Bundesliga club for £78 million.

Bellingham has ten goals and 18 assists in 90 appearances for the German team. Dortmund are hesitant to sell the midfielder this summer after losing Erling Haaland to Manchester City less than a year after selling Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.

Offloading Bellingham next year would let Real Madrid work on a deal for the player as they aim to bolster their midfield. Real Madrid has one of the oldest midfield trios which is made up of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Casemiro.

The iconic trio helped the team secure the UEFA Champions League and Spanish La Liga titles last season. The trio still looks forward to continuing next season as Luka Modric has signed a new contract but Real Madrid are already preparing for the future.

The Spanish champions have signed Aurelien Tchouameni and also have 19-year-old Eduardo Camavinga in the midfield area. Camavinga was among the players who helped Madrid to win the Champions League in 2022.

Madrid’s busy summer transfer window has left them disappointed after their bid for Paris Saint-Germain player Kylian Mbappe was rejected. Mbappe’s contract renewal at Paris Saint-Germain came as a surprise to many Real Madrid supporters and players who were already anticipating his move to Madrid then.
