Romeo Lavia recently signed for Chelsea in a deal worth £58m but is yet to play for the Blues and now the midfielder is injured.
The former Southampton midfielder had a scan on Friday after he injured himself in training as he went in for a challenge.
Lavia reportedly underwent a check on the problems with Chelsea scared that he might have suffered some ligament damage.
Romeo Lavia, a highly-rated 19-year-old, signed for The Blues from Southampton in a deal worth £58m last month and has not played any match for the club.
The youngster has been building up his fitness since he moved to Stamford Bridge since he did not train nor play a match for his former team this season before he moved to Chelsea.
The Blues will be hoping that the injury will not last as the club has been hit by several injury setbacks in the new campaign.
Chelsea recently lost Wesley Fofana to a long-term knee injury ahead of their pre-season tour alongside Trevoh Chalobah and new signing Christopher Nkunku.
The club’s skipper, Reece James, was also sidelined with a hamstring issue in training following Chelsea’s season opener against Liverpool.
Romeo Lavia is the latest to join the injury list alongside Carney Chukwuemeka, who suffered a knee injury in the 3-1 loss to West Ham.
Mykhailo Mudryk, who is yet to find his feet at the club, has also been sidelined due to an injury he sustained against Nottingham Forest last time out.
Benoit Badiashile and Armando Broja have not played any match for Chelsea this season as they are trying to recover from injuries too.

Roméo Lavia is a Belgian footballer who was born on 6 January, 2004 and plays as a defensive midfielder for Southampton and the Belgium national team.
The midfielder was born in Belgium and he is of Ghanaian descent and even though he can play for both countries, he decided not to play for the latter.
The Belgian joined from Manchester City last summer, and has a clause in his contract that grants City an option to buy back their former player at £40m – it’s not active until the summer of 2024.
Lavia is a defensive midfielder and he stated that his inspirations are Barcelona player Sergio Busquets and his former Man City teammate Fernandinho.
The Belgian has visibly expressed himself to be comfortable when recovering the ball, using intelligence, and tenacity, alongside pace – he is also gifted at making line-breaking deep passes.
