Chelsea on the other hand are still monitoring the injury to ascertain how bad it is for their highly-rated summer signing.

The former Southampton midfielder had a scan on Friday after he injured himself in training as he went in for a challenge.

Lavia reportedly underwent a check on the problems with Chelsea scared that he might have suffered some ligament damage.

Romeo Lavia, a highly-rated 19-year-old, signed for The Blues from Southampton in a deal worth £58m last month and has not played any match for the club.

The youngster has been building up his fitness since he moved to Stamford Bridge since he did not train nor play a match for his former team this season before he moved to Chelsea.

Romeo Lavia was linked to several clubs in the summer but chose Chelsea after his side’s relegation to the Championship last season.

The Blues will be hoping that the injury will not last as the club has been hit by several injury setbacks in the new campaign.

Chelsea recently lost Wesley Fofana to a long-term knee injury ahead of their pre-season tour alongside Trevoh Chalobah and new signing Christopher Nkunku.

The club’s skipper, Reece James, was also sidelined with a hamstring issue in training following Chelsea’s season opener against Liverpool.

Romeo Lavia is the latest to join the injury list alongside Carney Chukwuemeka, who suffered a knee injury in the 3-1 loss to West Ham.

Mykhailo Mudryk, who is yet to find his feet at the club, has also been sidelined due to an injury he sustained against Nottingham Forest last time out.

Benoit Badiashile and Armando Broja have not played any match for Chelsea this season as they are trying to recover from injuries too.
