Mauro Icardi took to his Instagram account to share a picture of their meeting which looks like a picture of three jolly friends who have been having fun all night.
This was Icardi’s major public outing since PSG lost the opportunity of winning their first UEFA Champions League title on 23 August 2020. They lost in the final to German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.
Although that was the first time PSG got into the final of the prestigious competition, they showed the desire of winning the tournament against a team that was unbeaten throughout the campaign. PSG’s determination to conquer Europe forced the match against a high scoring side like Bayern to a 1-0 loss. Bayern managed to score the goal in the 59th minute which was enough to seal the victory.
Obviously, PSG players have gotten over it as they continue to enjoy their break as much as they can in some of the most luxurious holiday resorts across the world.
But French Ligue 1 is ongoing, why is PSG still on holiday?
In case you are wondering why Mauro Icardi, Keylor Navas, and Neymar are busy enjoying themselves in Spain, the answer is simple, PSG were given extra weeks to relax and prepare for the 2020-2021 season.
Though the league in France started on 21 August 2020 and it is scheduled to end on 23 May 2021, the reigning champions of the league, PSG, would not commence their campaign until on September 10. By then, it is believed that they would have gotten enough rest from the tension of the Champions League and able to re-set their minds to the 2020-2021 season.
PSG’s first match of the 2020-2021 French Ligue 1 campaign is a visit to Lens on Thursday, September 10. They will then host Marseille three days after.
Mauro Icardi is not on holiday alone
Another picture the 27-year-old Argentine forward shared to his 6.7 million Instagram followers, showed that he did not visit Ibiza alone or just to reunite with his PSG teammates. He is on the Island with his family.
Though he didn’t share a photo showing his wife Wanda Nara, he shared one showing himself and his two daughters, Francesca, born on 19 January 2015, and Isabella, born on 27 October 2016, chilling in a pool of water on the roof of a building.
In the caption, the former Inter Milan captain wrote: “Daddy’s Chiquitas” (a female given name: from a Spanish word meaning “small”).
Icardi who just made his loan move from Inter Milan to PSG permanent during the just concluded 2019-2020 season, has four years on his contract with the club to establish himself as much as he did while at Inter Milan and the journey starts in the 2020-2021 season.
