The police in the United Kingdom have confirmed that one of the three rape allegations against a yet-to-be-named Premier League player has been dropped. This means that the player in question won’t be investigated further for the alleged rape case.
Recall that on July 4, 2022, the Metropolitan Police arrested a Premier League player for allegedly raping a woman in her 20s. The alleged rape incident took place in June 2022.
While in custody answering questions for the rape incident that happened in June 2022, the unnamed player was arrested for additional two rape incidents involving another woman.
One of the new rape cases allegedly happened in April 2021 while the second new rape case took place in June 2021. The woman involved is also said to be in her 20s.
Despite the multiple rape cases hanging on the neck of the player, he was granted bail until August 2022 while the investigation of the three rape cases continued.
But a spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police told Sky Sports on Thursday, July 28, 2022, that the investigation of the rape case that happened in June 2022 has ended in favor of the player. While the investigations on the rape cases that happened in April and June 2021 are still ongoing.
Also, the bail the police granted the Premier League player in July 2022 has been extended from August to October 2022.
The spokesperson said: “On 4 July, an allegation of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to the police.
“It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022. On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody.
“While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of two incidents of rape that were alleged to have been committed in April and June of 2021 against a different woman in her 20s.
“No further action will be taken about the offense in June 2021 but the investigation into the remaining offenses is ongoing.
“The man was initially bailed until a date in August but his bail has since been extended to a date in early October.”

What is going on with the Premier League player accused of rape?
Since the news broke in July that a Premier League player was in the custody of the police after he was accused of rape, the police have refused to make the identity of the accused footballer public. Also, the club of the Premier League player has not been officially revealed.
However, Futballnews gathered that the Premier League player in question is a 29-year-old player who is a prominent player at his club in London and is expected to lead his team to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Also, unconfirmed reports claimed that the Premier League player in question is Thomas Partey, a 29-year-old Ghanaian midfielder who currently plays for Arsenal football club.
Initially, when Arsenal went to Germany for a preseason tour during the period Partey was reportedly in police custody, he was not included in the squad. But immediately he was granted bail, the club included him in the squad that toured the United States.
Reports in the UK claimed that Arsenal are aware of the rape cases hanging on the Premier League long before he was arrested and granted bail. But the club continued to use it for games and other official events.
As it stands, until proven guilty, the rape cases might affect the game time of the Premier League player in the coming 2022-2023 season except if the police take him into custody again.
