Paris Saint Germain have held talks with Frenchman Ousmane Dembele over a possible move to the Parc Des Princes.
According to reports, nothing has been agreed or signed as the deal isn’t at an advanced state yet.
PSG are keen on triggering Dembele’s release clause, which would see him depart Camp Nou for €50 million.
The €50 million release clause is valid until the 31st of July, 2023 and Paris Saint Germain want to complete the deal quickly, given the little timeframe left.
Newly-appointed manager Luis Enrique is reportedly eager to welcome Ousmane Dembele to the club.
Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for £97 million and he has made 185 appearances for the club, scoring 40 goals and providing 43 assists.
The 26-year-old has won several trophies at Barcelona, namely; 3 La Liga titles, 2 Copa Del Rey and 2 Supercopa de Espana.
The France International has battled through a lot of injuries at the Catalan side and he hasn’t fully eschewed the qualities which he displayed at Borussia Dortmund.
Ousmane Dembele made 35 appearances for Barcelona in the 2022/23 season, scoring 8 goals and providing 9 assists across all competitions.
Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint Germain
The arrival of the winger isn’t linked with the future of Kylian Mbappe, but it remains to be seen if the highly sought after forward will remain at Paris Saint Germain.
Over the outgoing week, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner turned down the opportunity to join Al Hilal.
The Saudi Arabian side offered a £259 million bid to PSG and they reportedly proposed a staggering salary of about £700 million for Mbappe to join the club.
Additionally, they were also offering him a one-year deal with the opportunity to join Real Madrid next summer.
Ousmane Dembele was also amongst the squad that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France alongside Kylian Mbappe.
Both men also flanked both wings for France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and they were impressive during the tournament.
It is uncertain if they can reprise the same showing and telepathy, which saw Les Blues make it to the final of the mundial, albeit losing to a spirited Argentina side.
Dembele has made 37 appearances for France, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists in all competitions.
Kylian Mbappe is reportedly keen on joining Real Madrid, a fierce rival to Dembele’s present club Barcelona, and he has refused to extend his deal with Paris Saint Germain.
Due to his unwillingness to pen a new deal, PSG are looking to sell Mbappe now rather than losing him for free in the coming summer.
Ousmane Dembele began his career at Rennes before joining Borussia Dortmund on the 1st of July, 2016 for a transfer fee worth €35 million.
He made 50 appearances for the Black and Yellows, scoring 10 goals and providing 22 assists across all competitions.
