A game of two different halves ended with Nottingham Forest and Brentford sharing the spoils after 90 minutes.
Both sides went neck and neck all 90 minutes, and it was pretty much evident in the scoreline.
Aaron Hickey was handed an early booking in the 2nd minute after he pulled Forest’s forward Anthony Elanga.
8 minutes later, Taiwo Awoniyi thought he had put Nottingham Forest in front, after stabbing the ball home following a corner sent to the far post by Hudson Odoi.
In the 23rd minute, Elanga came close to take the Tricky Trees ahead, as he ran past his marker following a pass from Awoniyi.
However, his shot went wide of the near post, and Brentford heaved a sigh of relief.
It was a rampaging afternoon for Nottingham Forest, as they picked up the majority of the goal-mouth chances in the first 45.
Meanwhile, Moussa Niakhate was handed a yellow card for fouling Mathias Jensen in the 30th minute.
Brentford also saw a late chance in the first half, as Vitaly Janelt had a go at Matt Turner, but the American was up to the task.
Nottingham Forest and Brentford went into the break level, with both managers definately having much to say in the changing rooms.
The second half kicked off with more intensity, and Steve Cooper’s side were lucky not to have conceded in the 52nd minute.
Goalkeeper Matt Turner dilly-dallied on the ball for too long, and Brentford forward Yoane Wissa put in a sliding tackle to disposes Turner off the ball.
The ball was slowly heading towards the goal line but Willy Boly was on hand to save his team’s blushes.
VAR also had a look at the piece of play to ascertain if Wissa could have been fouled in the box, but following the review, referee Tierney called for play to continue.
In the 56th minute, Moussa Niakhate mistimed his tackle on Youane Wissa and the referee showed him a second yellow, which automatically resulted in his dismissal.
2 minutes later, Christian Nørgaard scored the opener, netting a header into the back of the net following a great set-piece delivered by Mathias Jensen.
VAR had a review of the goal the ascertain if the player was in an offside position, however, after the review the goal was given as Norgaard was adjudged to have been level with Willy Boly Ibrahim Sangare.
In the 60th minute, Steve Cooper introduced Harry Toffolo for Callum Hudson-odor, while Morgan Gibbs-White came on for Anthony Elanga.
5 minutes later, it appeared manager Cooper made a master stroke as substitute Harry Toffolo sent a great ball into the area, which met the head of Nicolas Dominguez.
In the 68th minute, Ibrahim Sangare was shown a yellow card for disciplinary issues.
Nottingham Forest afterward made their next set of substitutions, introducing Saman Ghodos for Aaron Hickey.
Frank Onyeka also came on to replace Mathias Jensen in the 69th minute of the encounter.
Both teams continued to have a go at each other, and the Tricky Trees made further changes bringing on Cheikhou Kouyate for Ibrahim Sangare.
Divock Origi also replaced goalscorer Nicolas Dominguez, and Chris Wood came on for Taiwo Awoniyi.
In the 89th minute, Thomas Frank’s Brentford secured a great chance, after Brentford went on a counter.
They moved the ball swiftly and Bryan Mbuemo was in a position of glory, but as he was set to pull the trigger, Morgan Gibbs-White put in a last-ditch tackle to save Nottingham Forest.
Brentford’s Onyeka was also handed a booking for his challenge of Gibbs-White.
The referee signaled 13 extra minutes as additional time in the second half, and both sides witnessed a litany of chances.
However, they couldn’t convert and that saw the game end in a draw, a scoreline that many would say depicted the way the encounter ensued.
The second half witnessed exciting football on display from the first half and that resulted in two well-taken goals.
Brentford occupy the 13th spot following that draw, while Nottingham Forest sit 11th on the Premier League table.
