Chelsea have stepped up their move for Victor Osimhen as the Nigeria footballing sensation closes in on Napoli exit.

Osimhen, who led Napoli’s charge for the 2023/24 Serie A title, is set to leave the club in the summer despite recently penning down a new contract extension with the club.

It is understood Napoli decided to broker a new agreement with Osimhen as a ploy to allow the club wield more power on the negotiation table with potential suitors.

Chelsea had indicated interests in Victor Osimhen since last season with the Napoli forward eagerly interested in a move to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Ligue 1 giants PSG were also eyeing a move for the forward as a replacement for exit-bound Kylian Mbappe.

With Chelsea also in the race for Victor Osimhen, PSG reportedly stepped up their move for Victor Osimhen with some reports they have agreed personal terms with the player.

However, a new report shared by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says Chelsea have stepped up their move for Osimhen and have opened talks with Napoli for the player. The Blues are reportedly hoping to hijack the move from the Ligue 1 giants.

Napoli are open to Victor Osimhen’s exit but values the player in excess of £100m. It is understood Chelsea were initially reluctant to fork out a £100m offer for Osimhen.

With both parties now on the negotiation table, Napoli have reportedly given the London outfit an option to sign Osimhen at a reduced offer but with a swap deal.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have pecked down Osimhen’a transfer fee from £100m to the range of £68m to £77m but insists Chelsea must table a player-plus-cash offer involving their Roma loanee Romelu Lukaku and one other young player.

It is still unclear whether the Blues will accede to Napoli’s demands for Osimhen but Napoli incoming technical director Giovanni Manna is not likely to blink on the club’s demand for a player-plush-cash offer for the player.
