The revelation forced Manchester United to suspend him indefinitely and forced Nike to end its Sponsorship deal with the embattled footballer.

To cap it all up, on Sunday, in the heat of the scandal, the Greater Manchester police released a statement to confirm that the 20-year-old football star has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.

On Monday, January 31, the police released another statement to confirm that they have been granted permission to detain the footballer for further questioning.

While on Tuesday, when the footballer’s fans thought the footballer would be arraigned in court to commence trial over the rape and assault scandal or released on bail, the police released a statement to confirm that Greenwood has been arrested again.

This time around, the out-of-favor England international is not just arrested for the alleged physical and sexual assault he committed on Robson, the police have added threats to kill to the crimes he allegedly committed.

Though the police did not confirm who the victim of Greenwood’s threats to kill was, it is suspected that the victim of the threats was Greenwood’s estranged girlfriend.

The police statement read: “Detectives have been granted further additional time to speak to a man in his 20s who was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault of a woman.

“The suspect was detained in custody on Sunday (January 30) afternoon after we became aware of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.

“He continues to be questioned after magistrates authorized an extension until tomorrow (Wednesday 2 February).

“Following inquiries so far, he has since been further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

“Enquiries are ongoing and the victim continues to be offered specialist support.

“We remind people to avoid any commentary or sharing of images that could compromise the victim’s right to lifelong anonymity, or risk prejudicing a live investigation with active proceedings.”

After the police issued the above statement, Manchester United issued a statement again to stress that Mason Greenwood who has scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for United from 2019 to 2022, remains suspended indefinitely.
