In Monday’s training session, Manchester United stepped up their preparations for a return to play.

The majority of the United squad took a vacation from the hectic season this week during the Premier League’s winter break, but Fred, Edinson Cavani, and Alex Telles were all called up for international duty and are still serving.

The majority of the team returned to Carrington on Monday, refreshed following their holiday, ahead of their first FA Cup match against Middlesbrough on Friday.

Ralf Rangnick put his team through their paces, and the following are four observations:

Pogba Soon To Return For Manchester United

Due to his thigh injury, Paul Pogba wasn’t supposed to return to training until the end of February, but Rangnick was taken aback by his miraculous comeback to the pitch ahead of the victory over West Ham.

The Frenchman wasn’t ready to return in the contest, but with another two weeks of training and recovery, he might be back in the lineup on Friday.

In the training, Pogba looked sharp and must be itching to play his first game under the new management.

Chong returned to United for rehab and is already ahead of plan on his road to recovery, having returned to the field to work one-on-one with a fitness coach, though he is still a few weeks away from returning to full training.

The Dutch winger had been enjoying his loan spell at Birmingham City until he sustained a ruptured thigh tendon in early November, necessitating surgery and putting an end to his season.

    Young players getting involved

Due to the departures of Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial, and Amad on transfer deadline day, some of the club’s potential prospects were brought into training on Monday to fill the void.

Along with Chong, the session included intriguing left-back Alvaro Fernandez and youthful centre-back Will Fish, who was just recalled from a loan spell at Stockport County.

Both players could be expecting to play against Middlesbrough in the Championship.

Rashford is hoping to continue his good form.

While many sportsmen would have appreciated a vacation during the last two weeks, Rashford’s break could not have come at a worse moment.

After making such an impact upon his return from injury, the striker has had a poor run of form, going without a goal since October.

He scored in two consecutive games and seemed revitalized with an impressive finish to seal a victory against Brentford and then a last-gasp winner against West Ham.

It’s a shame his run has been cut short by the break, but he appeared motivated in training to guarantee he can maintain his hot streak when football starts.
