    Luke Shaw has sustained an injury which could see him stay out of action for a lengthy period of time.

    The Manchester United defender has reportedly picked up a muscular injury and he is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.

    This is a huge blow for Erik Ten Hag’s side, who have had a wishy-washy start to the 2023/24 Premier League season.

    The Red Devils have also put out a statement confirming that Shaw has picked up a knock and won’t be available for their upcoming Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.

    They wrote: “Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has sustained an injury which will rule him out of forthcoming games.”

    The English giants also revealed that his muscular injury is being examined but the defender is “expected to be out of action for a number of weeks.”

    He made 47 appearances for Manchester United last season, helping the club to a 3rd place finish in the Premier League in addition to winning the Carabao Cup title.

    Luke Shaw is an important member of Erik Ten Hag’s set-up and his absence is expected to be significantly felt.

    The 28-year-old has battled many injuries during his career, but he appears to be winning the war in recent seasons.

    In the 2022/23 season, Shaw was unavailable for action, only thrice, and it was due to injury.

    The England international has begun both games for Manchester United this season in the Premier League, but he won’t be available for action on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

    Erik Ten Hag’s side started the campaign with a shaky 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, before losing 2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur on Matchday 2.

    Luke Shaw’s injury is coming in the same week summer signing Mason Mount also sustained an injury.

    Mount picked up a hamstring injury and he is expected to be out until at least the international break, or more.

    This could potentially offer Scott Mctominay a starting shirt on Saturday, August 26, 2023, against Nottingham Forest.

    Scott Mctominay has been linked with several clubs this summer, including; Everton and West Ham United as he is not a go-to choice in midfield for Manchester United.

    Meanwhile, Luke Shaw joined Manchester United on July 1, 2014, for a fee of €37.5 million and he has made 262 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals and providing 28 assists across all competitions.

    Shaw is considered to be one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and he is Gareth Southgate’s first choice for England.

    The defender penned a four-year contract extension with Manchester United on April 4, 2023, which will see him stay at Old Trafford until June 30, 2027.

    Anyway, Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund could make his debut on Saturday, August 26, 2027, when Erik Ten Hag’s side entertains Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest.
