Liverpool are set to make a move for a young footballing sensation to replace prolific Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.

Salah, who has scored 207 goals with 89 assists in his 337 appearances for Liverpool, is strongly linked with a move to Saudi, and the Reds are preparing for a life without the prolific Egyptian forward.

Last summer, Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad came calling for Salah with a whopping £150m offer for the player. It was a tempting offer to Liverpool for a player in his 30s but the Reds were not ready to lose their star forward.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp berated the disparities in the FIFA transfer window that leaves the transfer window in the Middle East open after Europe’s is shut.

This allows Saudi clubs to proceed on swift late moves to poach players from Europe, leaving European clubs at a loss to find a replacement for the lost stars.

It was the case with Mohamed Salah. Al-Ittihad came with a tempting offer but Liverpool turned down the advances as they were left with no room to shop for a replacement for the player should he leave the club.

Salah also earned plaudits from the Liverpool hierarchy for his utmost professional inclination despite the allures of the Saudi offer. The Egyptian striker, who has a year left on his contract with Liverpool, chose to continue his career at Anfield away from the enticing riches of Saudi Arabia.

His decision was the difference, averting a potential striker crisis for Liverpool and saving the club the hurdles of finding a new striker.

However, the Saudi club are set to come again for Mohamed Salah this summer with Salah set to enter the final year of his record-breaking £350,000-a-week contract with Liverpool.

Futballnews understands Liverpool are yet to broker a new deal with Mohamed Salah who has now clocked 31. Sources close to the club reveal Liverpool want to keep Salah with an extended new contract but could be forced to sell the player with a tempting bid from Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool have two options on the table – renewing Mohamed Salah’s contract or selling him this summer. Certainly, they will not allow the prolific forward to leave on a free transfer when his current contract expires at the end of next season.

While the footballer is still green with his elite-level performances, the Merseyside club are likely to consider a sale option due to his age.

Spanish outlet Deportivo Mundo reports Liverpool are preparing for Salah’s exit and are in the hunt for his replacement.

The report adds the club have identified Salah’s compatriot Omar Marmoush as an option to replace the 31-year-old.

Marmoush, 25, who played alongside Salah in the 2023 AFCON, plays as a striker for Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga. He joined the club as a free agent from Wolfsburg and has been on a prolific goalscoring run, netting 10 times and providing 6 assists.

Liverpool are reportedly set to splash £52.2m to sign the Eintracht Frankfurt attacking sensation this summer should they lose Salah to Saudi Arabia.

While speculations continue to swirl around Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future, the Egyptian forward is focused on his game with the Reds.

He has 20 goals and 12 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this season, and will be expected to play a big role as Jurgen Klopp hopes to ace a triple, drawing the curtain on his 10-year stint with Liverpool.
