Fans of Spanish La Liga in the United Kingdom are in for a treat as there will be free broadcast of the league matches throughout the month of September which is the first month of the 2020-2021 season.

Though it has been confirmed that the league will commence on 12 September, the league body is yet to issue the fixtures for the forthcoming season. However, it was earlier announced that the fixtures would be out in the last week of August which means that any moment from the time of publishing this report, fans of the league should be aware of who their clubs will face first.

Though the fixtures have not been released, FutballNews gathered that the big teams in the league would not play in the first game week especially those who participated in the just concluded UEFA Champions League.

For instance, Real Madrid that was knocked out of the round of 16 stage of the competition by Manchester City would not play until September 19-20 September. While Sevilla that just won the Europa League would not play until the last weekdays of September. In the same vein, Atlético Madrid and Barcelona that were knocked out in the quarter-final and semi-final stages of the Champions League respectively, would not resume until the last weekdays of September.

La Liga has also given Elche that just joined the league a week ago through playoffs, more weeks to prepare for the season. They are allowed to stay out of the league until October.

Talking about watching all La Liga matches for free in September, only those in the UK who own a Sky subscription will have free access to La Liga matches in September. However, the opportunity is not limited to such category of people alone, the fans of the league can follow it online via Premier Sports Player.

Spanish La Liga Broadcasting deal in the UK

Spanish La Liga Broadcasting deal in the UK

In September 2019, Spanish La Liga signed a groundbreaking deal that will return the league to television screens in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This was made possible through a three-year deal the league body entered into with Premier Sports which would take effect in the forthcoming 2020-2021 season.

The deal gave the sports media company the full right to broadcast Spanish La Liga matches using dedicated La Liga television channels. The only match they would not broadcast is any fixture that falls around 3 PM.

This deal has made La Liga the first league in the world to have dedicated television channels that will broadcast purely La Liga matches. The channels, LaLigaTV, LaLiga World, VIVA LaLiga, The LaLiga Show have been launched on the Premier Player OTT streaming service in October 2019 and Sky TV platform in January 2020.

For Spanish La Liga fans to subscribe to the channels, they will have to pay a subscription fee of £11.99 per month or £99 per year. While the subscription fee for LaLigaTV which is a standalone channel that is coordinated by Premier Sports is £5.99 per month or £49 per year.
