Manchester United have reportedly added Paris Saint Germain striker Kylian Mbappe to their wishlist ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window.

Reports claimed that the Premier League club plan to buy a proven striker ahead of the 2022-2023 season and the unsettled Kylian Mbappe tops the list of the strikers Manchester United have penned down.

Kylian Mbappe is having just a season left on his contract with PSG and reports say he still dreams of playing for Real Madrid and the Madrid-based club are said to be interested in his services too.

However, PSG are working so hard to ensure that they keep Mbappe beyond the 2022 summer transfer window since it is looking like the 22-year-old Frenchman would not leave the French club this summer.

Reports in France claimed that Kylian Mbappe has decided to remain at PSG this season which means that he might be a free agent next summer if PSG fail in convincing him to sign a new contract.

Aside from the fact that most clubs in Europe might not be able to pay his transfer fee which is valued at about £200 million, it is believed that Mbappe wants to stay at PSG for one more season to see how the club would end up this season.

Recall that the French Ligue one club just signed five world-class players – Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi, and Gianluigi Donnarumma. Hence, the world is anxiously waiting to see PSG’s attack line comprising Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Mbappe.

Mbappe is also looking forward to that and that could be the reason he might not push to exit the club this summer or in the coming winter transfer window.

ESPN reported that Manchester United are ready to wait until next summer before they make their move for Mbappe’s signature. Then, the France international would have been a free agent and would become a center of attraction in the next summer transfer window.

Kylian Mbappe is not the only striker on Man United’s wishlist

Aside from Mbappe, the other strikers Manchester United have on their wishlist include Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund, Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, and Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan.

Recall that Chelsea wanted to sign Haaland this summer but the Premier League club and Dortmund could not agree on a transfer fee. Hence, Chelsea bought Romelu Lukaku instead.

Kane is also wanted at Manchester City. The Premier League club is reportedly planning to make an improved bid for Kane after Tottenham rejected their initial £100 million bid.

This means that if Manchester City succeed in signing Kane this summer, Manchester United would be left with Martinez and Haaland to battle for next summer.

The reason why Manchester United need a striker so badly is that the contract of veteran striker, Edison Cavani would expire at the end of this season and he is likely to leave the Premier League once his contract expires.

Once Cavani leaves, United would be left with Greenwood as the club’s natural center-forward which would not be enough to compete with their rival clubs.

Manchester United’s new signing, Raphael Varane almost missed his unveiling last weekend due to traffic around United’s home ground, Old Trafford.

According to a report by ESPN, Manchester United planned to register Raphael Varane to play in the Premier League opening game against Leeds United. However, the Premier League club missed the noon deadline.

Since United missed that, the next plan they focused on was to unveil the former Real Madrid defender before the kick-off of the Man United vs Leeds United Premier League opener.

The fans came to the stadium earlier than scheduled to obey the warning that there might be an obstruction on route Old Trafford if they don’t arrive at the stadium before the scheduled time. Reports claimed the announcement was just a means to get the supporters sited on time for the unveiling of Varane before kick-off.

Unfortunately, Varane did not make it to the stadium as scheduled and United had to find a way to go on with the unveiling in an abridged format when he finally arrived.

After the unveiling in line with the permission of the Premier League, the defender watched some minutes of the game in the stadium before he left to resume training at Man United training ground, Carrington while the game was still ongoing. The match ended 5-1 in favor of Man United.

Varane is expected to be available for selection on Sunday, August 22, when Manchester United face Southampton in the club’s second league game of the season. The match is expected to kick off at 14:00.
