Romelu Lukaku has returned to Chelsea football club for a club-record transfer fee of £97.5 million without being in a known relationship at 28-year-old.
Before he signed his five-year deal with Chelsea which would keep him at the club until June 30, 26, Lukaku was trying to cope with his broken relationship with Sarah Mens.
Reports claimed that Lukaku who joined Chelsea from Inter Milan broke up with Sarah Mens earlier in 2021 for no known reason. Yet, the broken relationship did not affect his performance on the pitch as he went on to help Inter Milan to win the Italian Serie A title that same year.
Since their break up, Romelu Lukaku and Sarah Mens have not made any public statement concerning the broken relationship.
Also, since then, Romelu Lukaku has not been known or seen with another lady which could mean that he is currently single. However, he might not remain single for too long now that he has returned to London, a city he spent three years in (2011-2014) before he joined Everton on July 30, 2014, for a transfer fee worth €35.36 million.
Who is the ex-girlfriend of Romelu Lukaku, Sarah Mens?
Sarah Mens came to fame after she started dating Romelu Lukaku five years ago. She and the Belgian striker met in 2016 when she was an intern in Miami, United States of America.
Romelu Lukaku and Sarah Mens maintained a private relationship despite the attention the Belgian striker was getting due to his astounding performance on the pitch.
Just like Lukaku, Sarah is 28-year-old. She was born and bred in the Netherlands which means that she is a Dutch lady. While her estranged footballer boyfriend was born and bred in Belgium.
Aside from gaining popularity as the girlfriend of Lukaku, she is also famous for being the daughter of the famous Dutch television host Harry Mens.
Throughout her time together with Romelu Lukaku, Sarah owns her business. Her company is into interior design. Aside from being a successful entrepreneur, she is regarded as a Dutch model.
It is believed that Sarah Mens is the mother of Romelu Lukaku’s son, Romeo Emmanuel but the private nature of their almost five years love affairs made it difficult to confirm whether or not she is the mother of the boy.
Two Reasons why Chelsea signed Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku was rejected at Chelsea after spending three years of his career at the Premier League club (2011-2014). He was dimmed not to be good enough even though Chelsea paid Belgian club, Anderlecht, €15 million to bring him to the Premier League.
After about 7 years outside the club, Chelsea decided to bring him back to the club for the club record transfer fee of £97.5 million. He signed a five-year deal with the London-based club.
One of the reasons Chelsea paid such a huge sum of money to bring the 28-year-old Belgian striker to the club is because of his consistency when it comes to scoring goals.
For instance, since the 2012-2013 season, Lukaku is one of the six players in Europe that scored 10 or more league goals. Others are Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, Luis Suarez, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Secondly, Romelu Lukaku is a consistent assists provider which means that the more he scores goals, the more he helps his teammates to score great goals.
For instance, in the 2020-2021 season, the Belgium international was among three European players that scored 20 or more goals and provided 10 or more assists. The other two players in this category are Kane and Memphis Depay.
