Arsenal inflicted a humiliating defeat on Chelsea in the London derby to keep tabs on the 2023/24 Premier League title race.

Kai Havertz devoured his former club with a quickfire brace with Ben White also netting a brace to condemn the Blues to their biggest defeat this season.

After a shock home defeat to Aston Villa, it was a perfect way for the Gunners to bounce back at home and reassert their readiness to contest for the elite club trophy in England till the end.

Leandro Trossard opened the scoring for the home side just four minutes into the game, thanks to a brilliant assist by Declan Rice.

The Gunners’ second goal came via a corner kick. Instead of going for his regular inswinger, Saka played the corner to Martin Odegaard, who then played it back to him. He then found Declan Rice inside the box. Rice attempted a shot on goal but it was deflected back. The deflection falls back to Ben White, who made no mistake tucking it into the back of the net.

Five minutes after Ben White’s goal, Arsenal widened the score margin, putting the game beyond the Blues. Kai Havertz had come one-on-one with Petrovic and scored with a chipped effort over the helpless goalie.

Seven minutes later, the German international was on target again to bag his brace and make it 4-0. After picking a pass from Bukayo Saka, the former Chelsea star made no mistake as he fired into the bottom corner past Petrovic.

Five minutes after Kai Havertz’s brace, Ben White came up clutch again for the Gunners with his brace. The English defender pierced through Chelsea’s defense to pick Martin Odegaard’s flicked pass over the top. On reaching the second ball, he wasted no time as he struck with a first-time volley into the back of the net.

Arsenal were running away with an emphatic victory with Chelsea torn apart by the Gunners’ rampant frontline.

Both sides made swift changes with a few minutes left to play. Arsenal continued their dominant performance despite going five goals up.

It was a nightmare outing for the Blues but another Arsenal masterclass. It ended 5-0 with Arsenal running away with their biggest Premier League win over the London rivals.

The win has seen the Gunners open a three-point gap on the Premier League top with 77 points, closely followed by Liverpool with 74 points but with a game in hand while Manchester City are third with 73 points but have two outstanding matches.
