Mikel Arteta has spoken on Arsenal’s desired position as the Gunners prepare to lock horns against Chelsea in the English Premier League.

Following their victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, April 20, which saw the North London side climb to the first position in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta has declared that it is where Arsenal desires to be.

The Spanish manager, Mikel Arteta further expressed his satisfaction after his side bounced back from their recent bad results against Wolves.

The Saturday game was a huge boost for the Gunners as Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard scored in a 2-0 win at the Molineux Stadium.

The victory came on the weekend after they lost 2-0 in the Premier League to Aston Villa and 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League during the midweek.

Arsenal are now one point clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table and could make it four points when they host Chelsea on Tuesday, April 23.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Chelsea, Mikel Arteta said; “This is where we want to be, at the top of the table. We lost it last week at home to Aston Villa.”

“We didn’t deserve to lose it, but we’re top now at least for a day so let’s see what happens.”

The former Everton player added; “We’re going to have to earn the win on Tuesday against Chelsea. We’ll give it a real go,”

However, amidst their recent setbacks in the Champions League and Premier League, Arteta remains optimistic about his team’s prospects of conquering England and he urged his squad to maintain their focus and determination to overcome self-pity.

Arteta’s message serves as a rallying cry for his team, reminding them of the strength and determination required to overcome difficulty and achieve their collective objectives.

With Manchester City involved in an FA Cup semifinal clash with Chelsea on Saturday, April 20, Arsenal regained the top spot as they beat Wolves on Saturday evening, albeit having played more matches.

What’s next for Arsenal?

The Gunners have the chance to extend their lead atop of the Premier League when they face Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, April 23, at 8:00 WAT.
