The former manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Jose Mourinho has not forgiven the Premier League club for sacking him from his job less than a week before the Carabao Cup final.

When Jose Mourinho joined Tottenham Hotspur in the second half of the 2019-2020 season, the fans of the club were excited that the Portuguese tactician who is known to be a winner wherever he goes would win a major title for the club.

They also expected that the world-class coach would return Tottenham Hotspur into the top four of the Premier League. Unfortunately for the fans, Tottenham Hotspur ended the 2019-2020 season outside the top four and there was no trophy.

However, the fans were still hopeful that Jose Mourinho would do the expected in the 2020-2021 season since he never fails to win a title in any club he coaches. Indeed, Mourinho led Tottenham to a fine start of the season and they were already looking like title contenders.

Suddenly, they started to slide down the table until they hit the 7th spot. At that point, Tottenham Hotspur’s board felt that the Portuguese coach would not be able to make any difference. Hence, he was sacked three days after he led Tottenham to draw 2-2 away at Everton’s Goodison Park.

Jose Mourinho who was already planning how to lead Tottenham to defeat Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup had to be replaced by Ryan Mason six days to the final.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, Mason could not stand the tactical capacity of Pep Guardiola, hence, Tottenham was defeated 1-0 in the league cup final on April 25.

In an interview with The Sun, Jose Mourinho was asked whether he was disappointed that he was not allowed to lead Tottenham to the Carabao Cup final, and the Portuguese coach said: “Of course. To have a chance to win a trophy with a club that doesn’t have many, that was a dream.”

He stated this after he counted the final he couldn’t lead Tottenham to as a half-title. According to the Portuguese tactician, he has won 24 and a half trophies in his managerial career.

Jose Mourinho is one of the few coaches who have coached some of the biggest clubs in Europe. In his managerial career which peaked in 2004 when he stunned the world by leading Porto to win the UEFA Champions League, Mourinho has coached Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

In those aforementioned clubs, he has won at least two major titles with them except at Tottenham Hotspur where he was sacked after 18 months of being in charge. His next destination is at an Italian club, Roma.

The Portuguese coach said he decided to take the Roma challenge because of the cordial relationship that exists between him and the people running the club.

“I am a guy of many clubs. Roma is my future”, he concluded.
