Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been under pressure as United’s misfortunes show no sign of abating.
With six games left to wrap up the season, United are seventh on the Premier League table with 50 points – 10 points away from Tottenham Hotspur in 5th and 13 points away from Aston Villa in 4th.
They have won just one of their last seven Premier League games, and have dropped points in their last three matches.
Next on the line is the FA Cup semifinal fixture against Coventry City at Wembley before hosting Sheffield United in the Premier League on Wednesday, April 24.
It has been a disappointing campaign for Erik ten Hag this season with the Dutch facing an uncertain future at the club. With no Champions League football in sight next season, feelers from club sources reveal the Dutch may likely be sacked at the end of the season.
While ten Hag has been courageously optimistic about his future at United despite the club’s dwindling fortunes, sources close to the former Ajax boss reveal he is not afraid of losing his job and is even ready to call it a quit if the need arises.
According to The Mirror, ten Hag is ready to resign from his role as Manchester United manager but on one condition – if the club’s new co-owners (Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team) do not assure him of their commitment to him.
Erik ten Hag will enter the last lap of his three-year contract with Manchester United next season. It is understood proceedings for a contract renewal would have been triggered by United by this time if they wanted to retain him in the role.
Also, his contract has an extension clause attached which is yet to be triggered as well. The signals all point to a possible dismissal in the summer – a fate the Dutch is reportedly ready to embrace if Sir Jim withdraws his commitment to his services.
