Ellis Simms first goal for Everton pierced the hearts of Chelsea fans

    Ellis Simms came off the bench to net a last minute equalizer and earned shaky Everton a 2-2 draw against Chelsea. 

    Simms scored his first goal for Everton on Saturday evening as he ran into the box to smash an irresistible shot beyond the reach of Kepa Arrizabalaga. 

    Chelsea seized control of the game during the first half directing the course of action but they couldn’t find the cutting edge needed to punish the Toffees at Stamford Bridge. 

    The Blues also soldiered on he ascendency after the second half commenced and after much efforts, Joao Felix took Chelsea into the lead as he scores his first goal for the West London side at Stamford Bridge. 

    Sean Dyche’s men became more purposeful upfront as the game continued and they showed that when Abdoulaye Doucoure diverted home James Tarkowski’s header from a corner in the 69th minute. 

    Chelsea responded in style minutes later as Kai Havertz took his tally to three goals in three games, placing Jordan Pickford the opposite direction from a penalty. 

    Everton were eyeing another defeat but substitute Ellis Simms changed the story of the day for the Merseyside based club. 

    Ellis Simms’ goal has pushed Everton up the table to 15th position in the English Premier League with Chelsea still fixated at mid-table on 10th position.

    The Blues are 11 points behind Tottenham Hotspur who sit fourth and threw away a 2 goal lead against Southampton on Saturday.

    Everton moved to 15th on the Premier League table due to a strike from Ellis Simms

    Based on Simms’ strike, Everton are two points above the relegation zone and Sean Dyche’s looks to be engineering the magic so far that would keep them in the top-flight. 

    The team tutored by Graham Potter play against Aston Villa on the 1st of April after the International break while Everton host Tottenham Hotspur on the 3rd of April. 

    Everton took just two points from Frank Lampard’s last 8 Premier League matches but since the appointment of Graham Potter they have garnered 11 points from Sean Dyche’s first 8 matches as manager.

    The young Simms announced himself to the Premier League on Saturday and he might be the solution to Everton’s problems at number 9 position. 

    Only Crystal Palace have netted less Premier League goals than the Toffees 22 goals this campaign.

    With Dominic Calvert Lewin not able to stay fit and Neal Maupay not in the good books of the manager, the Everton coach has had to utilize another player upfront. 

    Sean Dyche has played Dimarai Gray at number 9 position in recent weeks but with Ellis Simms impressive loan time at Sunderland in January, he might be an important asset to Everton’s push to remain in the Premier League this season. 

    The 22-year-old has scored 26 goals in 74 appearances so far in his career and Sean Dyche would be watching closely the qualities Simms can bring to Everton’s attack.
