Douglas Luiz Brutally Trolls Manchester United Legend Rio Ferdinand After Aston Villa Qualified For The Champions League

Douglas Luiz showed no mercy in trolling Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, after Aston Villa qualified for the Champions League.

Rio Ferdinand who now serves as a TNT pundit aggressively mocked Douglas Luiz for his celebration after he scored an equalizer against Manchester United in the Premier League on February 11, 2024.

The former Manchester United defender went to his Twitter account, tweeting, “U ok @dgoficial,” coupled with a crying face and three laughing emojis.

Three months after Ferdinand made the aforementioned tweet, Douglas Luiz went back to the tweet after Aston Villa qualified for the next season’s Champions League, saying, “I just came here to find out if @rioferdy5 is okay.”

Ferdinand reacted to Douglas Luiz’s tweet, saying, “Congratulations, @dgoficial. Champions League football is thoroughly deserved next season.”

Ferdinand tweeted alongside a picture showing himself lifting the 2008 Champions League title with Manchester United.

Aston Villa were confirmed participant of the 2024/25 Champions League after fifth-placed Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur lost to Manchester City on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

It was good news for Unai Emery’s side, with the club sitting comfortably in fourth place in the Premier League table, ahead of Tottenham by five points.

The news of the Champions League qualification got to Unai Emery and his players during the club’s end-of-season award party.

It is a big change from three months ago, when Aston Villa were on the verge of dropping out of fourth place after they lost to Manchester United at home.

After the game against Manchester United on February 11, 2024, Aston Villa were leading Tottenham Hotspur by a point and Manchester United by five points.

However, both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur failed to win their following games to topple Aston Villa.

What Unai Emery Said After Aston Villa qualified for the 2024/25 Champions League

A picture had been circulating on social media showing how overjoyed Unai Emery was after it was confirmed that Aston Villa would be playing in the Champions League next season.

After the club end of the season party, he said, “It’s a very special day today. It’s our dream; it was our dream when we started the season to be here.”

“Of course, I’m very, very, very happy and very proud of you, the players, and everybody. I want to enjoy more, and, next year, the new challenge starts for us.”

“To build a team again, we must be strong enough to go and always increase our level. This is our objective, and always it’s trying to enjoy with you, the supporters; you are the heart of the club.”
Aston Villa will play their last match against in-form Crystal Palace on May 19, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
Unai Emery may decide to give youngsters a chance to prove themselves against the Eagles because the game against the London team is not that important.
