Moise Kean seems to be having a good time at PSG as the French Ligue 1 champions recorded a 2-0 win over Istanbul Basaksehir in a match that saw Neymar being replaced after sustaining a groin injury.
The on-loan Everton striker opened his goal account for the French club with a race over the weekend against struggling Dijon in the domestic league. He has now reported the same against the Turkish champions.
In the absence of the Brazilian superstar, Kylian Mbappe also grabbed two assists.
Neymar left the pitch early with a groin injury as PSG secured their first win in this season’s Champions League group stage.
It took PSG 64 minutes to open the scoring through Kean. The Italy international scored his first Champions League goal of the season in the 64th minute when he headed home unmarked from an Mbappe corner from the left.
He then got the second in the 79th minute, firing a left-footed shot into the net after controlling a pass from Mbappe.
Neymar and Coutinho could be out of action for Brazil
With the xtent of the injury sustained by Neymar unsure, this is a course for concern for the Brazilian national team.
This is also a concern for PSG coach Thomas Tuchel.
Brazil will return to the international scene for the World Cup qualifiers next month. The Selcao might not have Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho and Liverpool’s Fabinho for matches against Venezuela on Nov. 13 and Uruguay four days later well.
After sustaining the injury, Neymar tried to see if he can continue. But former Barcelona and Santos star exited after re-entering the game. His frustration makes him kick the ball out of bounds, was replaced by Pablo Sarabia in the 26th minute.
“It was necessary for him to come out, it’s his adductor. I hope that it isn’t a serious injury, we must wait for the scans tomorrow. He didn’t have pain but he felt uncomfortable.
“Amid a very busy schedule like this one, it could cost him some matches. But I’m not sure at the moment,” Tuchel said after the match.
It could be recalled that PSG last week suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United in their opening encounter, increasing the pressure on Tuchel as last season’s runners up.
The Parisien struggled to create chances in a tight first half both they could not break the deadlock until when Kane came to their rescue.
Manchester United currently tops the group after walloping Leipzig 2-0. They are followed by PSG with three points, beating the Bundesliga side with goals difference.
Leipzig is third with only their 2-0 victory in the group so far against the Turkish champions, who are competing in the Champions League group stage for the first time.
