Brentford manager Thomas Frank believes Ivan Toney is worth “£100 million plus” as rumors of a transfer exit continue to rumble on with interest from Chelsea.

Even though it is only their second season in England’s top level, the Bees have shocked the Premier League this year by contending for European football.

Ivan Toney, the captain of Brentford, is in charge of the club’s frontline. The 20-goal league scorer for Brentford has led his team to ninth place in the Premier League table.

Gareth Southgate was impressed by his performances this year, and in a 2-0 win against Ukraine, he awarded the 27-year-old his maiden England cap.

Toney has distinguished himself as one of the greatest strikers in England and caught the attention of numerous elite clubs in Europe. According to reports, Chelsea are prepared to make payment for the striker.

Thomas Frank, however, has referred to the England international as a “£100 million player” and compared Toney with some of the best players in Europe, like Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema.

Frank was asked how much his striker is worth before his team’s match against West Ham United on Sunday, May 14.

He responded: “£100m plus. I adore Ivan, and I think what he has accomplished here is amazing, but there is still more he can do. I’m overjoyed that he plays for Brentford.

“There are those players who push themselves further and further each time they reach a new level.

“He performed well in League One, moved on to the Championship, scored 12 goals in his debut season in the Premier League, has 20 goals presently, and hopefully scores more. Where does it stop? He is quite talented.”

Frank also discussed the potential loss of Raya in the face of Chelsea and Manchester United’s interest.

He said: “There is no doubt David is a case where there is one year left and we will see what will happen.”

“We are very happy to have David here. If anyone is interested, they should know he is a goalkeeper worth more than £40 million.” If the perfect offer comes up, he might decide to leave this summer. We must be ready for that if it occurs, just as we are at left-back, right-back, and striker.”

    What’s next for Brentford?

On Sunday, May 14, Brentford will play West Ham, and a victory would give The Bees a slim chance of making it to Europe next season.

Ivan Benjamin Elijah Toney is an English striker for Premier League Club Brentford and the England national team. He was born on March 16, 1996.

    Ivan Toney’s Club Career

When Toney made his first-team debut for Northampton Town in 2012, he was the team’s youngest player ever.

Before joining Newcastle United in 2015, he scored 13 goals in 60 games across all competitions.

He spent two seasons on loan with Barnsley during his first season at Newcastle, where they won the 2015–16 Football League Trophy and the 2016 League One Play-Offs.

He played for Shrewsbury Town, Scunthorpe United, and Wigan Athletic throughout the following two seasons while on loan in League One.

Toney was bought for an undisclosed sum to permanently join Peterborough United in 2018, and while he was there, he was named both League One’s top scorer and Player of the Season for the 2019–20 season.

Afterward, he joined Brentford, where his league-record 31 goals scored in 2020–21 helped the team get promoted to the Premier League.

Toney has participated in 35 games for Brentford this season in both the English Premier League and EFL Cup, scoring 21 goals and dishing out 5 assists.

Toney has participated in 401 games in his club career in total, scoring 165 goals and providing 59 assists.

    Ivan Toney’s International Career

On September 15, 2022, Toney received his first call-up for the UEFA Nations League matches against Italy and Germany but did not play.

At Wembley Stadium on March 26, in a 2-0 victory over Ukraine, he made his international debut after replacing Harry Kane in the 81st minute.

    What happened to Ivan Toney?

On November 16, 2022, it came to the limelight that Toney had been accused by the Football Association of violating 232 gambling regulations.

The FA charged Toney with an additional 30 violations of gambling statutes on December 20, 2022, bringing the total to 262.

While he has acknowledged some of the accusations, he is contesting others, which might result in a suspension of several months.

Since he hadn’t yet had a formal hearing, Toney stated on March 2 that he was “shocked and disappointed” to see public speculation about the matter.

    His Contract with Brentford

Toney passed his medical exam and signed a five-year contract with Championship team Brentford on August 31, 2020.

According to reports, the transfer fee would have been between £5 million and £10 million with add-ons.

    Salary and Networth

Ivan Toney agreed to a five-year, $5,460,000 contract with the Brentford Football Club. He will earn an average yearly pay of £1,092,000 along with a base weekly wage of about £21,000.

The 26-year-old Ivan Toney has an estimated net worth of $5 million, which is a sizable sum and one that the Bees forward thought he would never have when he was in League Two.
