Recall that claims involving images and videos that appeared online in January of last year resulted in the 21-year-old’s arrest.

Today, February 2, 2023, Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood was cleared of all allegations in a case involving allegations of attempted rape, assault, and coercive and controlling behavior. Greenwood was earlier charged in connection with the cases.

After his original arrest in January 2022 and subsequent release on bail, the forward for the Red Devils, who had been placed on indefinite suspension by the Premier League club since the allegations were made public, was the subject of the allegations.

After this, he was taken into custody once more for violating the conditions of his release on bail, and prosecutors filed charges against him. A little more than a year ago, in January 2022, the inquiry got underway.

The court hearing was scheduled to take place on November 27 of this year.

Recall that on January 30 of the previous year, United made the announcement that he would not return to training or participate in any matches “until further notice.”

He had already made an appearance at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court in the past November, accompanied by members of his own family and dressed in a dark suit and hoodie.

While appearing in the dock for his five-minute hearing, he took off his hoodie but did not make a plea.

The footballer, who was born in Bradford, progressed through the United system and made his professional team debut in March 2019, when United won their Champions League match away to Paris Saint-Germain.

He earned his first and only senior cap for England in the encounter against Iceland in the Nations League in September of 2020.

Greenwood, now 21 years old, is still listed as a member of United’s first-team squad on the club’s official website.

United listed Greenwood as a member of the under-21 squad for the next Premier League season, despite the fact that he had been suspended from the team ahead of the start to the season.

The most recent revision to his club profile, published in 2021, notes that he has made 100 appearances for the team and has signed a contract extending his stay with the club through 2025.

The Crown Prosecution Service announced that prosecution has been dropped on Thursday afternoon due to “the withdrawal of key witnesses and additional material that came to light.”

United suspended Greenwood on January 30, 2022, shortly after his arrest by Greater Manchester Police. Greenwood has scored 35 goals in 129 games since making his United debut in March 2019.

For United, he last played on January 22 of last year in a 1-0 Premier League victory against West Ham. Three days earlier, he scored twice in a 3-1 victory away at Brentford. The number 11 jersey that Greenwood wore has not been given to anyone else.

Against Iceland in September of 2020, he played in his only international match for England.
