Arsenal have secured the signing of Leandro Trossard after the Gunners reached an agreement with Brighton in a deal worth 27 million pounds.
According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs have agreed upon a transfer fee with six million pounds add-ons as personal terms are also completed that will see Trossard sign a long term contract until 2026.
Futballnews gathered that the player will earn around £90,000 per week.
Arsenal and Brighton were locked in on negotiations all day on Thursday in an attempt to get the deal done and a deal has now been agreed on.
Leandro Trossard has been on Arsenal’s transfer radar since the Gunners went to the market for a winger. The Gunners have been linked with several names after missing out on Mykahilo Mudryk. As it stands, Trossard is Arsenal’s first major January signing.
The 28-year-old Belgian international was one of the numerous players linked with a move to north London given his disagreement with Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi and lack of desire in extending his contract with the Seagulls.
Trossard will bring Premier League experience to Arsenal’s attack. He has 7 goals and 2 assists to his name in 16 League appearances for Brighton this season.
The Belgian is ambidextrous, versatile, and has good technical ability. Trossard’s versatility along the frontline will be a huge asset for Mikel Arteta’s team as they pursue the EPL title.
Before finalising his transfer to north London, Trossard will now undergo a medical for him to play against Manchester United on Sunday, Arsenal is trying to have the trade completed in time. But to achieve that, the required papers must be delivered to the Premier League by Friday at noon.
However, comparisons are ongoing between the 28 year old star winger and Chelsea’s new signing Mudryk.
Mudryk, the energetic winger, who signed a contract with Chelsea for more than £88 million, has an eight-and-a-half-year contract with the Blues.
The 28-year-old wantaway Brighton standout player Trossard is viewed as a potential Mudryk’s replacement at Arsenal since the Gunners missed out on Mudryk.
Trossard has played in 27 more games than the 22-year-old Mykahilo Mudryk since the 2021-2022 season began.
Trossard has also accrued 2,593 more playing time than the Chelsea new signing.
Trossard, the seasoned Premier League winger has scored 15 goals In 50 Premier League games.
Trossard notched 15 strikes in addition to five assists.
Meanwhile, Mudryk has scored just nine goals in the Ukrainian League.
In 23 games, the former Shakhtar Donetsk star recorded 13 assists.
Graham Potter, Mudryk’s new manager, is eager to work with him because of several factors, including his stats.
The prospective arrival of Trossard has split Arsenal supporters in the meantime.
