Antony’s ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, has urged Manchester United to suspend the Brazilian after he was accused of domestic abuse.
In an interview with The Sun, Cavallin said the Brazilian must be axed pending an investigation from the police.
In her statement, Cavallin said, “Antony must be taken off the pitch. It is disappointing that he is still allowed to play while an investigation is underway.”
“I am absolutely devastated by this whole process. How can life go on as normal for him? They can’t know what they know now and do nothing. He has to be suspended.
Cavallin also asked Manchester United why it took them three months before commenting on the incident. She said, “Why did it take Manchester United three months? It is not just okay.
The player has been dropped by his national team, Brazil, until further notice. Although Manchester United haven’t taken any action against the Brazilian.
However, Manchester United made a statement saying “it acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and they are taking this matter seriously.”
Gabriela, who is a model, claimed the Manchester United right winger assaulted her on four different occasions.
Also, two women from Brazil named Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana accused him of the same crime.
De Freitas, who is a law student, alleged that she was attacked by Antony and a woman in his car after they left a nightclub.
Antony has denied any wrongdoing. On September 8, 2023, he was close to tears while refuting, one after the other, all the incidents of the alleged abuse as cited by Gabriela Cavallin. He also denied the allegations by Freitas and Lana as well.
While Manchester United have taken their stand on the issue, they have come under increasing pressure to suspend Antony.
Meanwhile, Antony revealed in his interview he has never worried of being suspended by Manchester United following the allegations.
