Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger, is still looking for his way out of the Premier League club as his agent, Sahr Senesie intensifies his effort to get him a new club.
Sahr Senesie is not just Antonio Rudiger’s agent, he is also the player’s half brother and adviser which means that nothing is expected to go wrong as far as the agent is involved.
Futballnews gathered that Senesie was at Nou Camp on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, to discuss with Barcelona’s representative on the possibility of selling Rudiger to the Spanish club.
At the time of publishing this report, the outcome of the meeting between the defender’s agent and FC Barcelona has not been made public.
What is the status of Antonio Rudiger’s contract with Chelsea
Antonio Rudiger has been at Chelsea football club since July 9, 2017, after he joined the club from Roma for a transfer fee worth €35 million.
In the contract he signed with the Premier League club in 2017, he agreed to earn £100, 334 per week which equates to £5,217,391 per year.
The charismatic defender has been earning that since then but when Chelsea decided to renew his contract, the 29-year-old German center-back requested that he wants to be paid nothing less than £11 million which is close to double his current pay.
Since Antonio Rudiger is seen as one of the best legs at the Premier League club, he wanted to be among the highest-paid footballers at the club.
But Chelsea is not willing to pay him as much as he is asking for. Hence, the negotiations between the club and the defender have been halted for over nine months.
Unfortunately, it was in the middle of the inconclusive negotiation that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin ordered his troops to invade Ukraine. The ongoing invasion forced the government of the United Kingdom to slam sanctions on the club’s owner and Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
Due to the sanction, Chelsea is no longer allowed to renew the contracts of their players and buy new players until the club gets a new owner.
Based on this, the future of Antonio Rudiger whose contract with Chelsea will expire on June 30, 2022, is uncertain. Hence, his agent is doing everything possible to ensure that the defender is not stranded when his current contract expires.
Apart from FC Barcelona, which other club is interested in signing Antonio Rudiger and his stats at Chelsea this season
Apart from FC Barcelona, another Spanish giant, Real Madrid are interested in the services of the German defender.
Real Madrid have been pushing to sign Rudiger but the over £11 million per year (between £230,000-a-week and £290,000-a-week) that the defender’s representatives are asking for has not helped the deal to materialize.
Also, there was a point a report went viral that Rudiger and Italian giants, Juventus had agreed on personal terms but such a report has not yielded much fruit so far.
Reports also claimed that Paris Saint Germain are considering bringing the German international to the French Ligue 1 side this summer.
So far this season, Antonio Rudiger has played 42 games in all competitions in which he scored three goals and provided four assists. His current transfer market value is €35 million.
